Job summary

Working within the Logistics Operations team the successful applicant will be required to drive a range of delivery vehicles and Fork Lift (Counter Balance) trucks in and around RNAS Yeovilton. Duties will include the delivery of MOD owned equipment to multiple locations across the Station following a defined delivery schedule, interacting with Military, Civil Service, and Contractor personnel, and collecting unserviceable equipment for return into the approved repair cycle.

Job description

The Forward Delivery Service is an essential small team working within the Main Stores Group (MSG) of Logistics Operations at RNAS Yeovilton, who are responsible for delivering government owned equipment across the Station in accordance with the regulations defined within the Defence Logistics Framework (DLF). The successful applicant will be driving a range of 3.5 delivery vans, small mini vans (electric and Diesel powered), and a small 3000lb FLT.

Packages to be moved range in size from small jiffy bags, small boxes, crated gearbox's, Engines, and up to helicopter rotor blades. Commodities to be transported will include general engineering equipment, aircraft spares, inflammable goods (minimal quantities), and items of Stationery.

This is a dynamic position in a fast moving environment, the successful applicant will be expected to manage their material resources and prioritise effectively.

Person specification

This position would suit an individual who enjoys working in an ever changing fast moving environment, they need to be able to effectively prioritise their own work output and coordinate with colleagues and customers alike. They must be comfortable communicating across a broad range of people of various military ranks and Civil Service Grades. The post does involve moderate to heavy lifting so the applicant should have a suitable level of physical fitness.
