Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Munitions and Search (DEMS) Training Regiment is as a world class establishment, efficiently delivering specialist training to both UK and international military, made up of four squadrons: SEARCH, Convention Munitions Disposal (CMD), Munitions (MUNS) and Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD). DEMS Training Regiment are co-located across at 2 sites; Bicester, Oxfordshire and Kineton, Warwickshire.

The Mechanical Transport (MT) Driver is based in Kineton, but will work with, support and advise across the Regiment in what is a varied and significant role with a civilian and military vehicle fleet. DEMS Trg Regt provides an open, flexible and encouraging work environment where, civil servants and armed forces personnel work together toward this aim.

Job description

The MT Driver post is within the Quartermaster's department and is an essential business support function, supporting both of the Kineton based squadrons and their personnel on a daily basis.

Main areas of responsibility are

  • Ensuring that the vehicle fleet is managed, serviced and utilised in accordance with both civilian and military policy.
  • Using various management systems to ensure the forecasting and booking of all servicing and inspections, as well as requesting hire vehicles.
  • To ensure that the Squadrons' vehicle requirements are of paramount importance to enable the delivery of operational training courses.
  • Become the subject matter expert on Regimental and MOD policy in respect of equipment care and guide where appropriate.
  • Maintaining the driver training records of all on site personnel.
  • Completing driving tasks as required.
  • Deputise for the MT deputy manager when required.

Person specification

The successful candidate will be need to be able to communicate effectively over the phone, face to face and by email, whist remaining calm in sometimes demanding situations, they will be required to work both independently and as part of a team, with a keen eye for detail and being able to prioritise varying workloads and requests.

Essential Qualifications: Driving Licence Cat B.
