Job description
We are a friendly, family run glassfibre manufacturing company based across 2 sites on Carr Wood Road Industrial Estate in Castleford, West Yorkshire.
We are seeking to recruit a Full-Time Driver / Yardperson. The role involves approximately 85% driving of 3.5 ton vehicles with occasional towing of large trailer. There will be times in between deliveries that you will be required to assist with other job roles. These may be assisting our labourer with mould set up, assisting with packaging of products ready for delivery or learning to finish GRP and assisting with ensuring products are delivered on time. You will also be expected to maintain the vehicles including weekly check sheets, so basic literacy is required. The majority of the driving will be in either our 3.5 tonne flat deck or curtain sider, but we do make 1 - 2 trips per week with a large trailer.
Due to the length of the combined truck and trailer this position would be ideally suited to a HGV licenced driver. A valid tacograph card is required.
This is a full-time, permanent role with basic hours at 38.75 per week plus overtime. Over time over 38.75 hours is paid at time and a half
Excellent, permanent shifts Mon - Friday with early finish on a Friday.
The role involves delivering products to all areas of the country. This will involve some overtime when necessary, so candidates need to be slightly flexible.
Requirements are:
- · Clean driving licence for 3.5 ton trucks.
- · Experience of towing a triple-axle trailer.
- · Physically fit as the role involves some lifting.
- · Electronic Tachograph card (for use when towing trailer).
- · Understanding of the working hours rules for Tachograph driving.
- · Knowledge of traffic laws, with and without the addition of a trailer.
- · Ability to plan your own routes to adapt to traffic conditions.
- · Flexibility to make early starts for long journeys.
- · Willingness to work additional hours at short notice.
- · HGV experience an advantage due to length of combined transport.
Candidates must have a casual but smart appearance as this is a customer facing role.
