JOB VACANCY
DREDGER SKIPPER
The Padstow Harbour Commissioners are looking to acquire the DGW Sand Co. Ltd and will require a qualified skipper to manage the sand business.
The job role is to act as skipper/manager onboard the Sandsnipe, a 40m, 275GT Suction Hopper
Dredger.
Significant marine experience and boat handling in tight areas will be essential.
An understanding of marine engineering and dredger pump systems will be beneficial.
Liaising with hauliers and contractors to ensure a good service and a quality product are maintained will be expected.
JOB ROLE
- Responsible for the day to day running of the dredger and reporting progress to the Harbour management team.
- General maintenance of the vessel.
- Communication with hauliers and clients.
- Responsible for onboard checks, log book management and reporting.
- Responsible for the upkeep and daily completion of the safety management system.
- Responsibility to maintain vessel coding.
- Manage a small crew including rota and leave requests.
- Tidal shift and weekend work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MCA Boat Master Tier 2 level 2, VHF/SRC certificate, ENG1 or ML5 Medical, STCW Fire Fighting/Sea
Survival/First Aid, Basic Mechanical knowledge.
HOURS LOCATION AND SALARY
The role is full time shift with timings determined by the tide.
The salary is competitive and will be discussed in the interview process.
Dredging operations are at Padstow on the River Camel.
