Job description

Job Objective:
To ensure the safety and security of customers, staff and property in licensed premises, by monitoring and managing entry and exit points, diffusing potentially violent situations, and mitigating any possible risks or threats.

Key Responsibilities:
- To control entry and exit points of licensed premises, ensuring that only authorized personnel are granted access.

- To manage customer entry and exit, by checking identification, assessing sobriety, enforcing dress codes, and monitoring for any aggressive or violent behaviour.

- To manage customer behaviour within licensed premises, by providing a visible, authoritative presence, diffusing threatening situations or conflicts, and providing support to management and other staff members.

- To provide advice and guidance to staff and customers on security and safety issues.

- To maintain accurate records and reports of all security and safety incidents or accidents, and to take appropriate action as required.

- To keep up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements of the industry.

- To liaise with external security resources, such as police or emergency services, as needed.

Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a door supervisor or similar security role.

- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) or equivalent license.

- Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

- Physical fitness and ability to handle potentially violent situations.

- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.

- Ability to work calmly and professionally in stressful situations.

- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

- Basic computer skills for the operation of security equipment and writing reports.

Working Conditions and Pay Range:
- Full-time or part-time work, rotational shifts including weekends, nights, and bank holidays.

- Work may take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in noisy, crowded or fast-paced environments.

- May be required to wear a uniform or protective clothing.

- The pay range for a door supervisor in Scotland is currently between £12.00 and £15.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Note: Door Supervisors have an important role in maintaining public safety and order, and may face risks to their personal safety. As such, a background check and screening may be required as part of the recruitment process.
