Role Responsibility:
DOMESTIC CLEANER
HMP Five Wells, Wellingborough, NN8 2NG
£22,210.63 per annum
Full Time, permanent, 40 hours per week

The Prison is the UK’s first purpose-built, peer-led resettlement Prison. A one of a kind new generation category C Prison which is fast becoming an integral part of the local community.
G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.
Reporting to the Cleaning Team Leader you will conform to all COSHH regulations and risk assessments as per the training provided. The successful candidate will ensure specified areas are cleaned and are hygienic in line with contract expectations and standards whilst working as part of a team or as an individual and ensure that standards are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that you are familiar with the contract cleaning specification and adhere to it.
- Ensure that specific areas are cleaned at a stated time so we do not impact on the operational needs of the business.
- Report any building related faults to the FM helpdesk.
- Review and maintain stock levels of cleaning consumables in cleaning cupboards.
- Ensure all cleaning cupboards and areas we occupy are kept clean and consumables stored in a safe legal manner.
- Maintain COSHH documents in suitable locations to support the task and use and storage of chemicals.
- To check cleaning equipment is safe before use and ensure you are trained and competent to use it safely.
- Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.

The Ideal Candidate:
Essential Skills:
- Experience in a previous cleaning role.
- Able to work to high standards and schedules.
- Reliable and conscientious with an eye for detail.
Desirable Skills:
- Health & Safety A qualification – IOSH/NEBOSH
- Cleaning qualification i.e. BICs.
- Full, clean driving license.
