Domestic Abuse Case Worker/Legal Intern - Domestic Abuse Alliance, We Protect

- Job Type: Full-time hybrid role (Monday -Friday, 09:00-17:00)
We at Domestic Abuse Alliance, are a referral pathway to legal support and protection for victims of domestic abuse. We bring together organisations working on the frontline of domestic abuse with the civil legal sector to deliver legal assistance and protection for victims. Our organisation is looking for a highly motivated, and passionate Law Graduate/individual who will play a key role in delivering legal assistance to our referrals.
The successful candidate will be expected to have some knowledge in family law regarding non molestation orders. You will have outstanding communication skills, and work ethic to meet monthly targets. You should be able to provide sympathetic aid to our clients and be the driving force to advising and supporting our growing team.
We believe that professional legal advice and assistance should be both affordable and accessible to all. The workload will consist of private/pro-bono/legal aid funded Family Law matters including:
- Non-Molestation applications
- Occupation order applications
Job Description
Duties include but not limited to:
- Providing legal advice to clients on their legal rights on domestic abuse.
- Professional approach, delivering patient and sympathetic care to our clients.
- Working with our legal partners to progress a complex caseload.
- Manage and support all aspects of case preparation.
- Preparing draft documents including witness statements.
- File management.
- Meeting monthly target of completing bundles of cases.
What you’ll need:
- Excellent communication and drafting skills.
- A law graduate with a 2:1 university degree or higher but not essential
- Possesses excellent written skills as well as excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear understanding and application of Family Law, more specifically, surrounding domestic abuse, but not essential.
- Excellent communications skills to work effectively with all types of people.
- Good at working under pressure and in a fast paced and quick changing environment.
- The ability to use initiative and capable to work with minimal supervision after training period ceases.
- Committed team player and strong work ethic.
