The Dog Wellbeing Technician helps people with sight loss to live the life they choose by being responsible for ensuring the mental and physical welfare and specialist care of dogs. This is achieved through carrying out husbandry duties in order to provide for the wellbeing of dogs whilst accommodated at a Guide Dogs site.

We have 3 vacancies available for this location.

This role is Working 5 day out of 7 between hours 7am - 9pm, including evening weekends and bank holidays on a locally determined rota, with 26 days paid holiday (excluding bank holidays) a year. This role is for a Fixed Term Contract of 12 Months.

Candidate profile

To be able to fulfil this role, the skills and experience we are looking for in a potential candidate include;

Essential

A qualification in animal care, training/behaviour, or equivalent relevant work-based experience.

Experience of working in a kennel environment, paid employment or voluntary.

Experience of supporting a service.

The core principles of animal care and behaviour.

Ability to demonstrate time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Effective communication skills.

Desirable

Full manual driving licence. Confident to drive a variety of vehicles.

Experience of coaching and mentoring.

Working with volunteers.
