Job description

A challenging role focusing on providing the highest levels of training to all types of dogs at The Dog House, a prestigious activity holiday and training facility.

Duties:

· Undergoing an intensive ‘Dog House’ practical and academic programme consisting of training, behaviour analysis and best approaches to training supportive welfare

· Carry out: Puppy training, Companion courses, Gundog training and Desensitising courses taking advise from senior trainers and The Dog House founder

· Keeping daily/handover records of tasks accomplished, individual dog’s progress and keeping all team abreast of any health issues

· Handover lessons with owners; demonstrating and verbalising correct handling and training practices

· Assisting with the care of The Dog House farm animals, used as part of the training programme

· Handling and exercising dogs, including a couple of weekly night walks

· Ad Hoc duties as required

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You will be passionate about a long-term career working with and training dogs, energetic and very active you can balance practical duties with excellent communication, with both dogs and humans. Extremely dedicated, you are able to take direction & criticism, have a good memory and want to push yourself to be the best even under times of high pressure. Self-motivated you can manage your own training sessions alongside supporting and working with other trainers and members of the team.

You will be Admin minded, happy to put together reports and use a range of computer programs as well as contribute to the overall admin structure of the training department to streamline and improve the reporting and documenting process of each dog in training.

As well as gaining invaluable hands-on experience of teaching dogs and owners, the successful candidate would also benefit from an annual education programme.

PREFERRED SKILLS

· Experience with dog/animal training and or behaviour

· Would need to enjoy working in a beautiful but fairly remote area

· Driving license, own transport and references essential.
