Who We are:
We are the Holistic Canine Centre in Cardiff Bay. We believe in putting the wellness and well-being of the animals at the forefront of everything we do. We strive to make the environment and grooming experience as stress-free as possible for both the dog and the groomer.
Our approach to grooming is more patient and gentle than in some salons. We pride ourselves on our more holistic approach to grooming as well as everything else that we do. This includes us using a brand new Hydrobath and fully electric grooming table along with organic products which contain calming essential oils.
Our in-house dog trainer offers desensitisation sessions for the dogs which in turn helps the groomer when the dogs return for a groom.

Who We’re Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced/ qualified Dog Groomer.
The right person for us will be someone who loves the whole ethos of the shop and wants to groom in a way that compliments this more gentle and holistic approach.
Someone that is open to learning or has knowledge of behaviour and body language in dogs to work in a way that fits with the whole ethos of the shop.
Is willing to work with our behavioural specialist to develop and learn other techniques and work in a different way with the dogs. Having a more gentle approach, gentle handling, noticing and putting the dogs feelings and adapting and changing techniques and approaches to suit the individual.
We are looking for someone who genuinely loves dogs, and is interested in behaviour, well-being and a more holistic approach to animal care and welfare.
The Holistic Canine Centre is a relaxed, warm and friendly environment, we are looking for the right person who is going to love working with us and the dogs. Treating every client as special and making sure a pleasant experience is had by all.
Your Responsibilities
Greeting our customers, and performing standard dog grooming tasks such as bathing, trimming, clipping nails and cleaning ears.
The groomer is also responsible for answering client questions, record keeping and keeping the salon and equipment clean and sanitised.
Offer advice on grooming and pet health.
Groom animals.
Monitor animals stress levels, health and wellbeing
Suggest treatments or vet referrals.
Speak knowledgeably about pet grooming products and services.
Explain grooming procedures to owners and liaise with them during or after the groom.
Be willing to adapt and learn new techniques if observation and handling of the dogs

We are offering a starting salary between £9.90 - £13.50 per hour based on experience.
The job will start initially as a part-time trial period and quickly move to full-time if you are the right person for the position.
We will consider full-time, part-time, freelance and job shares for the right people and it is essential that you will be available for Saturday work.
Working hours will be between 10-40 hours per week
