I bought the franchise for Chichester and the surrounding areas over 10 years ago. Before that, I had been an estate agent, in a senior position with a highly respected local business for many years.
We have 2 Barking Mad liveried cars which are used solely for our business.
We specialise in arranging holidays for dogs. I don't say dog boarding because we go much further than that. We spend time carefully matching dogs to our individual host families. The dog owners can choose that their dog is the only one there or if their dog benefits from the company of another dog some of our hosts have a friendly dog of their own so we could match them too. The dog will then spend their holiday with a family who will love them and take care of them exactly as their owners would. Routines, lifestyles, etc are maintained. The owner sends everything the dog needs for their holiday including food, bed, toys, etc. We collect the dog from their home and take the dog to their holiday host, liaising with the customer and host all of the time. Sometimes we are asked to look after a dog whose owner has become ill.
Our hosts are very special. They are not commercial dog boarders they are doggy granny & granddads or aunts and uncles. They look after dogs because they love to do it. Most have been lifelong dog owners who for a number of reasons no longer have a dog of their own, most commonly because their last dog passed away and they couldn't bear to go through it again but they still want the companionship of a dog, and some exercise. We inspect their homes regularly and we know our hosts inside and out and they know and trust us. Barking Mad remains in charge of all dog care. We are on call 24/7 in case of any problems but as our hosts are very experienced problems are rare. We look after our hosts very well. We arrange social activities such as coffee mornings, afternoon tea, and group walks and we encourage other suggestions.
Vacancy
The post available is for a Barking Mad Dog Care Operative. The successful candidate would work closely with me and my team to ensure that:-
- dogs and their owners are accurately matched to a suitable host
- dogs are safely transported to the hosts' house and back home
- their needs and the needs of the host and customer are met while they are under our care, including excellent communication with all parties
- Marketing activity, helping us grow our business by increasing our customer and host base
We work to Barking Mad protocols and quality standards and all paperwork regarding this is completed accurately -
Self-employed basis (help given if needed)
Hourly rate £9.50 ph if 25 years of age, this will increased in April.
Clean driving licence
Computer literate and typing skills.
Flexible, reliable, and trustworthy.
Training and uniform would be provided.
Applicants should have their own car driving to Felpham, the office, and be no longer than 30 minutes commute.
