Job description

Grade D - £25,733 (National Framework) or £30,902 (London Framework – if you are London office based or homebased and live within the boundary of the M25) – There is also an additional homeworking allowance of £529 per annum for those working from home.

Contracted Hours: Full time 37 hours per week, a job share arrangement would also be considered for this role.

Contract Type: 12 Month Fixed Term or Secondment Opportunity

This is a home working role, however flexible working options can also be considered. There may be limited, occasional travel to our Birmingham, London, or Newcastle offices. Our Homeworkers are provided with the tools and equipment they need to comfortably work from home.

-The role of the Diversity and Inclusion (D and I) Officer will be of critical support to develop and deliver the new Diversity and Inclusion strategy, as well as existing key projects within the Diversity and Inclusion team.

  • This work is core delivery within the Human Resources (HR) Business Plan and People plan, and will enable colleagues to effectively deliver the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) strategic priorities.

Accountabilities:

  • Continually develop technical and soft skills whilst maintaining understanding of Equalities related legislation/updates which impact People in the workplace.
  • Lead on project managing and supporting delivery of the Workplace Race Equality Standard and Workplace Disability Equality Standard activity. This will include, but not be limited to, secretariat activity for regular meetings.
  • Design and create bespoke evaluations to learn and improve. Analyse qualitative and quantitative data, produce evaluation reports and present management information to senior colleagues. This will support existing and upcoming Diversity and Inclusion strategy activity.
  • Lead on communications activity alongside the Internal Engagement team and wider, for corporate Equality Network and HR Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Lead on improving our organizational memory for Freedom of Information requests, handovers, memberships, benchmarking, financial governance.
  • Lead on refreshing and maintain intranet pages, and team guidance/Terms of References, working alongside wider CQC colleagues.
  • Lead on mailbox management and financial administration, to support budgeting.
  • Support with any business cases, such as reviews for memberships or externally commissioned work.
  • Support stakeholder management and work with the D and I Coordinators, Equality Networks and HR to embed Diversity and Inclusion activity across the CQC.
  • Support with coordination of papers for meetings and consultation, e.g. People Committee, Executive Team, Board and the Equality Networks.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Committed to learning and development for themselves and the team.
  • Project management, problem solving and prioritisation skills to plan, review, and monitor progress, as well as escalate risks and propose mitigations.
  • Communication (both written and verbal) skills. For example, to engage and present to key, internal and external stakeholders, such as the Executive Team and NHS colleagues.
  • Competent to use and/or learn how to effectively apply Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This will include making sure any correspondence and/or documents are accessible to stakeholders and the wider team.
  • Ability to analyse people-based and wider data sets/evidence to identify and explain issues, trends or changes to a wide range of audiences.

Desirable qualifications/skills/experience/interest related to any of the below:

  • Project management methodologies. Risk, Assurance, Governance.
  • Policy/Strategy development and/or delivery.
  • User research/Behavioural Insights/Social research/Statistical analysis.
  • Legal, Employee engagement, HR, Digital.
  • Freedom of Information requests.
  • Administration; secretariat, finance.
