Job summary
The Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) is the MOD’s civilian police force which provides a number of specialist capabilities including armed protection, marine policing and criminal investigation. MDP employ approximately 3000 staff at locations across the UK, with its Headquarters located at RAF Wyton, Huntingdon, Cambs.
The Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Co-Ordinator role is based within the MDP HR Team. The D&I Co-Ordinator role facilitates and delivers a variety of D&I activity which directly supports the strategic business objective of increase the number of underrepresented groups within MDP as well as key D&I initiatives to support the current workforce.
This role would suit an individual who is keen to make a difference and has an interest in supporting D&I, has good interpersonal skills experience with ability to deal with people appropriately at all ranks / grades, comfortable working at pace and is a self-starter with strong organisational skills.
Previous HR experience is not essential for the role, on the job learning will be provided, though a background in working in D&I would be desirable. Opportunities to gain CIPD qualifications will be available.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week, however, is open to Part time staff should job share be achievable. Flexible working options are available with the majority of staff operating under flexible working hours and hybrid working.
Job description
Supporting the development and delivery of the D&I Action Plan and coordinating quarterly progress reports for the Strategic Workforce and Diversity Board.
Implementation and lead of the Force’s Communication Strategy and raising awareness of diversity and inclusion issues. This includes drafting news items, management of the D&I Comms Page, guidance, Force Orders/Staff Notices and facilitating events.
Managing and supporting the forces Outreach programme to support business objectives and recruitment.
Support and management of variety of D&I related dashboards for the strategic D&I Board and DIFWG. Responding to ad-hoc D&I data requests including supplying data for the Workforce Plan and Freedom of Information requests.
Drafting business cases and seeking funding for diversity resources and conferences as required. Management of the D&I costs database.
Providing advice and guidance to staff and management on diversity and inclusion related issues. Supporting policy authors with drafting diversity content and carrying out Equality Analysis and facilitating effective consultation.
Building and maintaining links with internal and external diversity groups to share and learn good practice and represent the team and the Force at conferences, seminars, and other diversity related events.

The successful candidate should be someone that has / is the following;
- Exceptional organisation with an eye for detail
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Be proficient in handling, analysing and interpreting data
- Enjoys building and maintaining new relationships and can communicate confidently with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- An adaptable team player, with experience of working collaboratively yet is comfortable using initiative when working alone.
- Demonstrable ability to prioritise workload, working on multiple tasks at any one time
- Good skills using Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams.
