An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Distribution Chargehand to join our hard working and friendly team within the Supply Chain Department at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
The Distribution team forms part of the wider WPL Procurement & Supply Chain. This role is to be part of the supply chain team in a busy trauma hospital ensuring the timely delivery of items from pharmacy/goods into the relevant wards/department. You will be the lead person on site from 16:30 to 20:00 in charge of a small team of 4 (including you) This role is physically demanding involving a lot of walking and handling heavy items (tools such as pump trucks are available to assist with this).
This working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 11:30 - 20:00 based at Southampton General Hospital.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the safe delivery of pharmacy items, receiving signatures where appropriate [i.e., controlled drugs, refrigerated items
You may also be required to work within the Goods In department, sorting and receipting items onto a pc as part of a team
On rotation you will also be required
- To collect empty pharmacy boxes as per schedule from ward/ department areas.
- To deliver loaded pharmacy boxes to ward / department areas.
- To deliver sterile fluids to wards / department areas.
- To work as the Banksman for the main delivery yard at SGH
