The nightshift is responsible for receiving inbound, stock rotations, picking, loading of all 40 x 3.5 tonne refrigerated vehicles, managing drivers checking in procedures and ensuring that all routes leave the yard on time and deliveries are made to customers on time and in full first time.

The Distribution Nightshift Manager will oversee the entire operation to ensure 100% service levels and compliance are met. Ensure KPI metrics are achieved, reported and analysed to make continuous improvements.

Key Areas of Responsibility, Activities & Tasks Involved

Headline Area

Line-management of 50+ team members (drivers, pickers, loaders and yard staff) incl dealing with HR issues, absence management, investigations and disciplinaries

Company and legal compliance management

H&S and welfare management of all staff and site

Quality & Food Safety standards met

Operational and manpower budget controls to ensure met

Service delivery KPIS, Customers contract SLAs and 100% deliveries met

Manpower planning and contingency planning to ensure all deliveries are met on time and in full

Inbound stock deliveries (mainly bread), received and recorded correctly

Stock managed, rotated and recorded correctly

Stock picked accurately for customer orders to ensure no shortages

Vans pre-loaded with orders prior to drivers arriving to site

Outbound deliveries coordinated effectively to ensure routes leave on plan

Drivers' check-in procedures managed effectively

Cleaning schedule delivered to company standards

Waste recorded and investigated

Stock discrepancies reported and investigated

Manage team of drivers to ensure DOTIF adherence

Driver performance and customer complaints managed

Vehicle management in conjunction with Fleet Controller

Vehicle and driver compliance

Company systems used correctly

Legal requirements adhered to with regards to transport legislation and any offenses are communicated to drivers and action taken if appropriate.

Company documentation completed and stored to company standard and audit purposes

Escalate issues in a timely manner to relevant senior staff

Continuous improvement of operational effectiveness with strategic guidance from SMT

Leadership & Development of Direct Reports

Recruit effectively in partnership with HR and induct/onboard accordingly

Manage people resource levels to meet business needs

Manage team member’s T & A (Time & Attendance) on relevant software in line with payroll cut offs

Coach, feedback & continuously develop self and team members ensuring they have the skills, knowledge & tools to perform

Performance Management of team including up to date Job Descriptions, one to ones/feedback, clear objectives set, KPI results measured, activities monitored, quality checks of work

Engage & motivate team to deliver growth & improvements

Manage own & team behaviours in line with our aspirational culture, vision & values

Take ownership of all general team health, safety, wellbeing, and compliance matters, seeking support from relevant areas wherever needed, escalate as appropriate

Overall, Purpose of Role:

To manage, monitor and audit day to day activities, ensuring KPI metrics are met, achieved and reported on for the business’s distribution operation. Ensuring that all decisions, tasks and ideas put the customer at the heart of everything.

Key Areas of Responsibility, Activities & Tasks Involved

· Headline Area

· Manage all distribution team members accordingly in line with the business’s strategic plans with a view to continuously improve and develop the teams skills.

· Monitor and adhere to company and legal compliance, utilizing relevant team members to assist.

· Assist in strict adherence to the operational budget while maintaining increased levels of service to all customers.

· Manage product, deliveries, quality and service within the distribution operation and site.

· Create and implement contingency plans and process for direct reports while offering training for operational understanding

· Continuously improve operational effectiveness with strategic guidance from SMT

· Accountability for the health, welfare and safety of all reporting team members

· Manage resource levels and skillset within the distribution operation

· Ensure all deliveries are completed within SLA and to all customers standards

· Manage all inbound and outbound deliveries

· Manage overall cleanliness and waste management of the site

· Monitor and report all stock discrepancies

· Manage team of drivers to ensure DOTIF adherence
