The team

The Disputes & Risk division is led nationally by Tier 1 Chambers ranked partner Catherine Wolfenden. The team has 38 other partners - specialising in a wide range of disputes and arbitration matters.

There is a very collegiate atmosphere in the team and team members are encouraged to work together and take responsibility for business development ideas and client care.

Role & Responsibilities

The Disputes & Risk paralegal role is varied, working across all our specialist areas through the lifecycle of our matters. Examples of responsibilities include:

  • Legal research
  • Drafting, preparing and proofreading legal documents
  • Taking attendance notes
  • Court filing (in person and e-filing)
  • Document review
  • Supporting Matter Managers with coordination and administration, including:
    • Updating key actions and deadlines
    • Document management
    • Physical and electronic bundling
    • Monitoring WIP against fee estimates
    • Managing complex billing arrangements

Technical skills and experience

Due to the technical nature of the practice, you will have worked within a recognised and respected Litigation team in a similar role. You will have an interest in building your knowledge in a range of contentious areas and a willingness to learn.

We are looking for somebody who enjoys variety, has a client-oriented approach and has a flair for solving problems. Good oral and written communication skills is essential.

As a guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to appoint a Paralegal in this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.

Your career development

Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:

  • clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
  • high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
  • thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
  • robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and
  • reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
