We are a well-respected Law firm with a strong local reputation who care about our people and are committed to providing opportunities for them to grow and succeed. Due to continuous success, we are seeking several ambitious and self-motivated Litigators to handle a broad spectrum of civil and commercial dispute matters. The role will primarily be based in Chesterfield but some flexibility may be considered across our Sheffield and Mansfield offices. Prior experience of dispute resolution would be desirable however applications are welcomed from graduates who can demonstrate an ability and ambition to learn quickly.
Full time Hours - Permanent contract
(Part-time hours may also be considered).
Immediate Start (dependent upon notice period)
Hours of business are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm but some flexibility may be considered.
The Role:
The successful candidates will have a strong academic background and will ideally have gained prior experience of Dispute Resolution within well-respected firms. The ability to adapt quickly, integrate with an established team and manage a varied caseload of dispute resolution matters are required, together with the ability to effectively meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
The successful candidates should be able to provide advice to clients relating to a range of civil and commercial disputes, including residential and commercial property, commercial contracts, professional negligence and wills and trusts disputes. Training and support will be offered, depending upon candidates level of experience.
These positions would also suit someone who is skilled at building lasting working relationships with clients, who is willing to play an active role in the team’s business development activities and who has a drive to contribute to the Dispute Resolution team’s ongoing success. The successful candidates will join a well-established team and will be supported in their career development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Competent handling of a varied caseload of Dispute Resolution matters.
- Develop and maintain efficient systems to diarise and ensure all deadlines are met.
- Demonstrate excellent client care, apply technical knowledge and communicate complex legal matters into a commercially astute and understandable format.
- Meet with clients and provide pragmatic and commercial legal advice.
- Ensure legal knowledge is kept up-to-date and commit to continual self-development.
- Run legal matters in an organised and efficient manner ensuring client document and advice history are recorded in accordance with firm procedures.
Person & Skill Specification:
- Skilled in the area of Dispute Resolution or possessing the requisite skill set and ambition to learn quickly .
- Experience and receipt of formal qualifications within the legal area/sector will be considered on merit although consideration will also be given to candidates who have a strong academic background with a genuine desire in developing to achieve a recognised qualification within the legal sector.
- Credible past consistent financial performance or proven ability to meet financial targets.
- The ability to build and manage a caseload, work under pressure to tight deadlines and be highly self-motivated.
- Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Calm under pressure.
- The ability to provide excellent client service delivery.
- Full driving licence/transport is essential due to a requirement to attend meetings at other sites from time to time.
