Job description

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Dispensing Assistant to join our Pharmacy team, working at Sherwood Forest Hospitals. We are looking to fill a post covering 3 days per week at our Newark Hospital site. Due to workload, there may be a requirement for the successful candidate to travel to Kingsmill on an ad hoc basis.

This individual will undergo training to enable them to deliver a high standard of dispensary based pharmacy services to our patients. There will be a requirement to travel between our Newark and Kingsmill Hospital sites during the start of your employment to enable completion of training.

You must:

  • Hold a BTEC/NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent).
  • Have experience working as a Dispensing Assistant.
  • To label and dispense prescriptions.
  • Reception Duties - Receive prescriptions from patients, carers and other Trust staff.
  • Preparing medicines and drug charts to be returned to the wards and clinics.
  • Filing of prescriptions.
  • Counselling patients on their medications.
  • Maintenance of stock, stationary and sundries in the dispensary.
  • General housekeeping duties.
  • Ward and department top ups of stocks – Newark only.
