We are now recruiting for Dispatchers for 2023! Immediate vacancies are available now with future spots opening throughout the year; therefore a candidate bank will be created from this recruitment.
Main Purpose of Role
To operate communications systems and equipment and deal with enquiries from the public and agencies, ensuring that as a department resources are deployed efficiently throughout the Force and in keeping with performance standards and published policies/guidelines laid down by the Force
Key Skills & Experience Required
You must be able to work as part of a team in a busy and stressful environment and have previous experience in the use of telephone and radio equipment and computer systems. Good accurate keyboard skills along with the ability to converse on the telephone and record information at the same time.

You must be able to work a rotating shift pattern and unsociable hours over a 24/7, 365 day period, for which you will be paid a shift and weekend working allowance.
If you are successful at the shortlisting stage, you will be invited to an online work based test, where you will need to be able to type a minimum of 30 words per minute, have a good grasp of spelling and be able to demonstrate good accurate keyboard skills along with the ability to converse on the telephone and record information at the same time. Reasonable adjustments can be offered at the testing stage, subject to need.

Please note that you must obtain your line manager’s sign off if applying for an internal vacancy. This will need to be submitted on the Line Manager Awareness Document which is published at the bottom of the advert. The post holder will be required to work in a confidential environment, with a high level of integrity, and be vetted to Management Level.
Successful applicants will also be subject to a drug screening conducted by Alere Toxicology in which samples of hair are collected and analysed to determine whether any substances may be present that could affect the safety, performance or behaviour of that person in the workplace.
