The UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub (UKHIH) was founded in 2020 with the aim of solving big humanitarian problems. Hosted by Elrha and funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) currently until 2025, our work focuses on accelerating the development of the humanitarian innovations and strengthening the sector, fostering creative and rigorous solutions by actively bringing people together (researchers, humanitarian responders, donors, communities, and the private sector) and using resources strategically to leverage the best expertise and best intent.
Do you have robust knowledge and experience of the Humanitarian sector and have experience of affecting positive change? Are you a thought leader, experienced in driving evidence based innovation and research practices with the ability to guide and facilitate new and improved ways of tackling humanitarian challenges?
We're seeking an individual to inspire and convene global expertise and knowledge, bringing together diverse partners and networks to tackle major innovation challenges. Excellent communication and partnership management skills will be required, along with an outstanding ability to plan and deliver impactful results.
Our Director plays the lead role in building the profile, activities and reputation of the UKHIH, positioning the Hub as a global leader in international humanitarian innovation research and development.
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate:
- Considerable knowledge of the humanitarian sector and experience of driving strategic collaborations to drive innovative ways of working.
- Experience of working in a highly strategic leadership role with responsibility for leveraging expertise and optimising impact.
- A strong and practiced understanding of evidence-based research and innovation approaches in the humanitarian sector, including fragile and conflict affected contexts.
- A successful track record of building reputation and influencing global policy agendas to create sustained change.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate a vision to inspire others and develop strong and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
