Job Summary
The Director of Innovation & Strategy will play a key role in the development, implementation, management and communication of strategic innovation planning, supplier activation, promotional strategy. This individual will have a keen ability to formulate partnerships to deliver value added services that reflect the business objectives of the organization and will work closely with product development teams, retail and marketing and other stakeholders to ensure the company’s brand stays relevant and competitive in the ever-changing business landscape. They will maintain an effective level of business literacy about the business units’ financial position, its mid-range plans, its culture and its competition and should be experienced in program development, solutioning across a matrixed organization, driving quantitative results. This role is focused on maximizing sales and profitability, analyzing sales performance data to identify opportunities for growth and improvement. The business savvy candidate will have had a proven track record in relationship building, innovation, analytics & problem solving and will collaborate with the Eurest Sector team to play a significant role in researching and developing internal brands. This opportunity allows for flexibility to work remotely, with periodic office presence based on candidate location.
Responsibilities
- Drive like for like growth through strategic initiatives and programming (coffee, grab-n-go, robotics, etc)
- Manage and inspire team to develop consumer-centered programming that drives participation
- Work closely with field marketing teams and champion network based on focus area for coffee development, experience marketing initiatives and other solutions
- Work closely with procurement to help drive the preferred and new product process for the team
- Collaborate with optimization and data teams to monitor trends and develop actionable insights
- Manage launch of new initiatives for managing both P&L and subsidized models
- Work with digital team to develop and activate retail solutions: improving product selection, promotion, loyalty
- Track retail trends with a focus on product mix and promotions
- Work with E15 and gather research on product development and current and future trends to support all functions of the business
- Support implementation teams with training, field implementation and store openings
- Identify and lead strategic initiatives and connect market research to field teams
- Develop tools and resources to help the field in execution of innovation that is relative to client and guest wants
- Demonstrate behavior and actions consistent with the company code of conduct
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Business/Marketing or related field required
- 10+ years of experience desired
- 5+ years experience with retail food stores highly desired
- A high level of expertise with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Planogram software is required
- Food and Foodservice operational experience is essential
- Working knowledge of suppliers and distribution ideal
- High energy, assertive and self-confident individual with a good working knowledge of the external market place from a retail perspective, food and non food environments
- Proven change management experience
- Financial analysis and/or metrics analysis required
- Strong presentation skills are key
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Proven ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
