MXW Studios is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Creative Services Director to join our team for a minimum 12-month maternity cover position. We are seeking a design professional with expertise in creative direction, client management and project delivery across various disciplines.
As the Creative Services Director, you will have the responsibility of overseeing a diverse portfolio of global clients. The primary focus will be supporting on our ESPN Andscape account where you will lead projects encompassing key art and trailer production, as well as the design of treatment decks, pitch presentations and supporting marketing collateral. Within this role, you will refine the creative process, troubleshoot and future-proof the business fostering a seamless and visionary partnership.
In addition to Andscape, you will also allocate a portion of your time to support our wider client base that includes Universal, Disney, and Netflix, among others. This involvement will further enhance your expertise and contribute to the success of the overall agency.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Creative Leadership (50%)
- Provide creative direction, strategic guidance, and meticulous quality control within the creative team. Ensure the delivery of high-quality and innovative concepts and creative across diverse mediums: print, digital, video, presentation design, and live experiences.
- Stay attuned to industry trends and standards, empower the team to consistently produce work that surpasses expectations, capturing the essence of excellence in every creative endeavour.
- Actively participate in the design process by being a hands-on designer, contributing to concept development, visual ideation, and design execution.
- Maintain a high standard of quality across all creative deliverables, reviewing and approving designs, layouts, and concepts to ensure they meet brand guidelines and client requirements.
- Foster a collaborative and inspiring environment for the creative team, nurturing their talents and skills. Provide guidance, feedback, and support to help them grow and develop as designers and creative professionals.
- Work in partnership with the dedicated Andscape Art Director to ensure seamless and unified delivery.
- Oversee the end-to-end project management process, from initial concept development to final execution. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with client expectations.
- Foster strong relationships and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including account managers, production teams, and external vendors, to ensure seamless execution of projects.
Client Management (35%)
- Collaborate closely with clients to thoroughly understand their objectives, develop a deep understanding of their brand, and deliver creative solutions that align with their goals and messaging.
- Efficiently manage and oversee the entire project lifecycle, coordinating with the clients' teams to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery.
- Work closely with the client to continuously improve and enhance the creative process, ensuring it remains robust and effective.
- Conduct weekly catch-up meetings with the client to finalise project details and allocate appropriate resources.
- Identify and address any structural or operational challenges, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions for seamless and future-proof collaborations.
- Provide production support to the team, offering assistance and expertise in various aspects of the production process.
Asset Management (10%)
- Manage creative assets such as style and branding guides, concept art, key art, title treatments, and unit photography.
- Maintain a streamlined process for downloading, documenting, and filing assets, as well as ensuring proper circulation among relevant parties.
- Implement effective tracking and security protocols to safeguard assets.
- Upload assets to relevant client drives and ensure server files are up-to-date.
Budget Management (5%)
- Assist in managing client budgets and internal cross charges ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
- Assist in managing the live work schedule, tracking weekly hours, conducting monthly lock downs, preparing quarterly business reviews, and contributing to annual reporting.
Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Company from time to time.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communication, Marketing) or equivalent professional experience.
- Design agency experience is essential for this role, as we will need you to hit the ground running.
- Proven experience (minimum 5-years) in a creative leadership role within the Film and Entertainment industry.
- Multi-disciplinary creative background with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in various mediums, including print, digital, video, and presentations.
- Experience in mentoring and managing a team of designers, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and foster professional growth.
- Exceptional client management skills, with a demonstrated ability to understand client objectives, build relationships, and deliver creative solutions that exceed expectations.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools including Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite and Keynote.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate creative concepts and strategies to clients, stakeholders, and the internal team.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality creative work.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in design, marketing, and the Film and Entertainment industry.
- Strong understanding of Black cultural moments and current events that can influence ideas and tactics.
