The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Institute of Human Virology (IHV) is currently recruiting for International Program Director. This position will manage the Botswana Research award -Botswana Smoking Abstinence Reinforcement Trial (BSMART). The study will evaluate the effectiveness, implementation and preliminary cost-effectiveness of the SBIRT intervention.

Essential Functions:
- Design and oversee workplans by engaging stakeholders in all aspects of the study, from protocol development, preparation, data collection and analysis and dissemination of findings.
- Work with Principal Investigator and stakeholder for planning, including training of data collection teams; and work plans.
- Responsible for high quality data collection using tablets REDCap Mobile Device Applications and electronically extracting all clinical and laboratory measurements longitudinally from the Integrated Patient Management System (IPMS) and the Patient Information Management System (PIMS).
- Responsible for Data checks to verify completeness for each site (against IPMS, PIMS) and to check for data errors.
- Provide programmatic support for qualitative interviews.
- Develop a standardized evaluation approach to understand whether the delivery of the intervention is sustainable.
- Support data collection for cost effectiveness analysis.
- Prepare regular reports on program activities for the donor and contribute to writing, editing and reviewing manuscripts, reports, posters, and presentations.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Education: Bachelors in a related field of expertise.
Experience: Six (6) years working in an appropriate field with at least two (2) years of experience of overall responsibility for program direction, coordination and implementation. International program experience is preferred.
Supervisory: Prior supervision of others preferred.
Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Statistics, Biostatistics, or related discipline experience is preferred.
Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.
Hiring Range: $122,000 - $130,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
