Job description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Product Management Director to lead our product management team and drive the development and enhancement of our digital news products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, research, design, support, and marketing, to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality digital news experiences that engage and inform our audience.


Responsibilities:

Product Strategy and Vision:

  • Develop and articulate a strategic vision for our digital news products in alignment with the company's overall objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and user behaviors to inform product strategy and innovation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define and prioritize product roadmap initiatives.

Product Planning and Execution:

  • Lead and coach product managers to own the end-to-end product lifecycle, including ideation, requirements gathering, prototyping, handoff to development teams, and launch
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define product features, user experience, and product performance metrics.
  • Translate business goals and user needs into actionable product requirements and specifications.

User Insights:

  • Analyze market trends, competitor products, and user feedback to identify opportunities for product improvement and differentiation.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize product performance, engagement, and user satisfaction.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor a team of product managers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, encouraging cross-functional teamwork and effective communication.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from different departments to align product goals, prioritize initiatives, and resolve conflicts.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives and business teams.
  • Communicate product updates, roadmaps, and performance metrics to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Solicit feedback and incorporate stakeholder input to ensure products meet business objectives and user needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in digital product management.
  • Strong understanding of digital media trends, user behaviors, and content consumption patterns.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and launching digital products in the news/media space.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven and user-centric approach.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and product management tools.
  • Passion for news and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the digital news landscape.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $180,000 to $200,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, quarterly and annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
