This role provides leadership and strategic direction for the operational growth of the Digital Consumer Engagement (DCE) team. They and their team drive transformational programmes that deliver maximum value, quality and efficiencies, identifying how the changes impact on the business and ensure sufficient engagement to change ways of working to realise the transformation needed to achieve the D2C ambition.

This role sits on the DCE leadership team and plays a big part in shaping a positive culture that supports the BBC’s digital aims.


Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clear leadership and vision, defining success criteria for how to seamlessly operate and deliver operations across the DCE team and Brands & Licensing division.
  • Responsible for the lifecycle of content delivery and shaping how this adapts as we prepare ourselves for significant growth in Social Video and wider D2C initiatives.
  • Supports SVP, Digital Consumer engagement with Social Video, leading the operational implementation to ensure there is a compelling vision delivered across the business and engages a range of stakeholders to understand change impacts and business readiness to adopt planned changes and realise benefits.
  • Sponsor and steer a large programme of technology infrastructure work to ensure growth in all content platforms (inc. Social platforms) is underpinned by correct systems in place
  • Lead Social Video operational planning, implementation of change activities and resolve escalated issues. Plans may include change management, engagement, communications and benefits plans, benefits profiles and training plans.
  • Implement effective methods of managing prioritisation, scope, dependencies, risks and issues – this would include defining, developing and delivering these methods with PM software support.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, including BBC Studios Global Operations, Finance and Legal to optimise delivery and constantly review our agile processes to drive clarity on how each discipline contributes to delivery.
  • Liaise internationally to develop common business strategies, move towards shared services and ensure compatibility.
  • Provide visibility of progress in formal reports, in meetings and presentations and in ad hoc written communications.
Are you the right candidate?
  • Track record of successful project delivery including large, complicated programmes, with experience in building successful teams, line managing and developing individuals
  • Experience of developing and implementing a digital operational end-to-end strategy
  • Accomplished in facilitating constructive discussion and debate amongst the management team to ensure progress towards objectives and goals. With empathy and informed understanding, your interpersonal and influencing skills encourage collaboration in and around your team.
  • Can thrive under pressure and deal with conflict
  • Expert knowledge of agile and lean approaches including its products, techniques and appropriate methodologies (e.g. Kanban, SCRUM, Lean), which may be supported by a recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APMQ, MSP, Scrum Master).
  • Do you have knowledge of the global digital landscape with a keen focus on social AVOD?
  • Experience in stakeholder management on complex/sensitive programmes and at senior levels.
  • Experience facilitating and monitoring change; able to deal with complexity and ambiguity in a pressured environment; and can adapt to changes in business focus.
