Director of Marketing & Communications

Located in the heart of Mayfair, The Arts Club is one of London’s oldest private members’ clubs – celebrating its’ 160 anniversary this year – and home to a community of members with a passion for the creative arts, literature, and business. From distinguished art exhibitions to fine dining, live music, and an exceptional programme of events for members, the club remains at the heart of contemporary cultural life in London.

We are currently looking for a Director of Marketing & Communications to lead the Marketing & Members’ Events Teams by developing, planning, budgeting and implementing Marketing strategies for The Arts Club London in collaboration with our sister club in Dubai.

Successful applicants will become part of a fun, dynamic team who work closely with the operations teams who bring The Arts Club to life on the daily basis.

About the role:

As the Director of Marketing & Communications, you will have in-depth marketing communications experience and a passion for digital technologies, you will be working closely with Senior Executives as well as key managers in the Club to ensure consistency through all channels, providing forward-thinking ideas to build and maintain a strong and coordinated brand presence and a fully integrated marketing strategy for the growth of the business.


In a nutshell:

  • In consultation with the CEO develop the Marketing and Communications budget as well as deliver on key financial metrics
  • Responsible for creating and implementing the Club’s social media strategy, which includes content creation, scheduling and copywriting across all channels, as well as maintaining the club’s tone of voice, tailoring content for a luxury audience
  • Oversee all digital marketing channels (website, social media, PR) to ensure brand consistency.
  • Management of the Club’s website in conjunction with our external web team, plus handling of CMS, ensuring consistently up- to-date/relevant
  • Create monthly e-mailers, which includes everything from procuring images and copywriting, to building and testing all campaigns
  • Management of the Club’s branding agency as well as printing and mailing houses.
  • Appoints and manages any public relations/social media agency. Regularly reviewing and assessing their performance.
  • Working closely with the Operations & Membership Teams to capture all creative ideas and offerings to develop best marketing strategies with an analytical approach for business optimisation
  • Working closely with the People & Culture Team to develop our Employer branding and internal communication strategy for improved recruitment traction, employee engagement and retention.
  • Drive continuous analysis of competitive environment and consumer trends, monitoring competition and generating ideas to stand out;


About you:

  • A minimum of 10 years Marketing, PR & Communications experience within luxury brands / hospitality sector with a passion for the industry
  • Proven management experience in a senior management capacity
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set with the ability to spot original branding opportunities
  • Enthusiastic, dedicated, resilient, goal-oriented and effective decision-maker
  • Highly motivated, a strong team player and works well under pressure and to tight deadlines across multiple projects
  • Confident communicator (written, listening, verbal - multilingual is a bonus)
  • Historical experience with partnership marketing and event creation and planning
  • Professional membership (CIM) an advantage;
  • Established media and industry relations
  • Global experience and understanding of cultural nuances
