Director of Marketing Performance- Day 8 Experiences

While we are just over 40 people working full-time all year, the team extends to hundreds more over the event season from all over the world.

If you are a data-loving performance marketer with a determined and entrepreneurial spirit, we have the perfect challenge for you! Bring your expertise as a proven multi-brand Marketing leader in this senior appointment for a Multi Brand Marketing Director, reporting directly into the Group CEO, to lead on performance marketing and being accountable for the business hitting sales targets throughout the year, being part of the senior business leadership team and designing the direction and strategy of the marketing function, with significant budget requiring comprehensive ROI.

We are looking for the following capabilities and accountabilities to allow the successful incumbent quick accountability and deliverables, in a fast moving and high impact function of the business directing significant budget for paid social media.

There are several important skills that will greatly contribute to your success;

  • Marketing Strategy

You will devise, build and implement a full 360 year long marketing strategy in order to achieve the yearly sales goal. For this you will need to have experience in the following areas:

Strategic Thinking: A growth focused mind set that uses data and metrics to drive the overall strategy. You should have a strong ability to think strategically and develop a comprehensive marketing plan that aligns with the overall business objectives. This involves understanding market trends, customer preferences, and competitor strategies to identify opportunities and create effective growth campaigns across a multitude of markets and brands.

Audience: The Yacht Week & Day 8 have a broad range of products that are marketed to a range of differing audiences and nationalities. Understanding how to market products to our key audience via paid media is critical. All of our content is optimised by platform and audience and experience in this area will be critical.

Multi Brand Management: Being responsible for multiple brands requires excellent brand management skills. You need to ensure consistent messaging, positioning, and implementation of the brand identity across various social media channels while catering to the unique characteristics and target audience of each brand or product.

All owned channels : Work with the channels manager to formulate a strategy for all Day8 brands owned channels. This includes all social channels, website, booking funnel,

Creativity and Innovation: With a large budget, you have the opportunity to experiment and innovate with your social media campaigns. Creative thinking and the ability to develop unique and engaging content that resonates with your target audience is essential for capturing attention and driving results.

Social Media Expertise: Since you have a large budget for social media, you should possess deep knowledge and expertise in paid social media performance marketing. This includes understanding different platforms, their algorithms, content formats, and engagement strategies. Staying up to date with emerging trends and best practices is crucial for leveraging social media effectively.

  • Budget, Sales and Financial Management:

Managing a large budget requires financial acumen. You should have the ability to allocate resources effectively, track expenditure, and demonstrate a strong ROI. Regular monitoring and adjustment of the budget based on campaign performance is crucial. You will have full ownership of the marketing budget for all brands and products across production, PR, media, advertising and day to day marketing activities. The following key skills are a requirement for the role:

Data Analysis: Analytical skills are essential for evaluating the success of your marketing campaigns. You should be able to interpret social media metrics and use data-driven insights to optimise your strategies, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions. This may involve using tools like Google Analytics, social media analytics platforms, or conducting A/B testing. You will also be implementing new data platforms that will enhance our understanding of our sales and marketing channels. You will be able to interpret the data in order to build our marketing plan.

On-line sales mapping: Forecast sales through the year and track this against sales each week. Fully accountable to this sales number as set out for each brand and product

Growth mindset: You will lead the charge with setting up the business for growth with ambitious marketing plans that take calculated risks.

  • Team and Resource Management

Leadership and Team Management: As a Marketing Director, you'll lead a team of marketers and collaborate with various stakeholders. Strong leadership skills, including effective communication, delegation, and motivation, are vital for managing and inspiring your team to achieve goals.

Team Leadership: You will lead a team of marketeers which you will need to train, support and hold accountable for delivery of the marketing business plan. You will need to be able to recruit and retain the best talent for each role with a key focus on driving performance and innovation.

Tech Platform Management: You will need to have a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder management of a tech team that builds our booking platform, databases, app and all technical systems.

Performance marketing management: You will work with our paid agency to build a performance marketing plan. Have a really clear understanding of the kpis and be able to use this knowledge to hold the agency to account as well as keeping the marketing plan on track and on budget.

Collaboration and Networking: In the travel industry, collaboration and building relationships with relevant partners, influencers, and industry stakeholders can significantly enhance our marketing efforts. Networking skills can help you identify potential collaborations, secure partnerships, and stay ahead of industry trends.

Our Must Haves!

  • Previously managed a budget over £1m on paid social media
  • Campaign management across multiple brands with differing brand personalities
  • Premium Sector or high value purchase experience
  • Managed a large team and have experience of marketing integration with a Tech function
  • Directorship experience over 2 years
  • Excellent Team Leadership experience and demonstrable performance driven focus and team successes
  • Fluency in written and spoken English- (European Language skills are a plus)
  • Open to travel where required
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK

WORK ENVIRONMENT

You will be based out of our modern office in East London, some international travel will be required and certain points of the year.
