Role Overview:
In a Nutshell…
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Factory Director to join our team within Vistry Works Leicester, at our factory in Narborough, Leicestershire. As Factory Director, you will provide leadership, vision and direction to Vistry Works, Leicester to ensure that its strategies and objectives, alongside the forecast and financial management, are developed and achieved through its operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall operational management of both the factory and on-site operations, to ensure the interests of the Group are maintained and promoted at all times. You will ensure the general motivation, wellbeing and continued incentive of all Company employees.

  • A strong educational background, ideally educated to degree level, with broad commercial experience at an appropriate level within the Housebuilding, Timber Frame and/or Property Development sectors
  • A robust understanding of finance, budgeting and accounting issues influencing the business
  • An up-to-date understanding and ability to perform IT tasks, with experience of using Microsoft Dynamics being not essential but highly desirable
  • You will have held a role at similar seniority in the manufacturing industry, ideally with experience specifically in Timber Frame/Housebuilding
  • An understanding of external influences affecting the housing and property markets, with acute business acumen, vision and strategic capabilities
  • You will have been involved in the preparation, presentation and achievement of a forecast and annual budget which is in line with the Company’s targets
  • You will be capable of updating new designs, products and manufacturing methods by refining existing products, with an evolving knowledge of the Timber Frame industry
  • You will have extensive experience in the Timber Frame industry, and will have experience of previously working in a role of similar seniority for a minimum of 5 years
  • You will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate colleagues at all levels towards Group objectives
  • You will have a strong rapport as a people manager, with the ability to lead, coach and mentor a high-performing team across the entire operational business function
  • You will have the ability to make decisions at a strategic level; as one of the Company Directors you are accountable for making day-to-day decisions which affect the wider business
  • You are able to establish business controls and are able to measure and monitor these to ensure the effective application of such controls to drive business efficiency
  • You have the ability to influence others within the business to ensure that best practices are shared, to aid the Group in achieving its overall objectives
More about the Factory Director role…
  • You will be responsible for managing the daily operation of the business, ensuring that all aspects of process are met and run smoothly and efficiently to ensure that the financial forecast and production targets are achieved
  • You will be highly influential in supporting and developing the team, line managing a varied team of colleagues, and working closely with the People Team to ensure that there is robust development and succession planning
  • You will support all teams through from timber frame design to production, logistics and the team on-site responsible for erection, ensuring that all elements of the whole process are working collaboratively with minimal issues and risk to the business
  • You will take responsibility for all aspects of Health and Safety to ensure that adequate provisions, plans, reporting and actions are in place to ensure that the Company adheres to both Group policy and HSE (Health and Safety Executive) requirements
  • You will liaise with the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Timber Frame division as to the day to day operations of the Company, as well as exceptional activities of the Company as appropriate
  • You will be key in preparing material for the monthly board pack, to present in board meetings with the executive management teams
  • You will ensure that all Group policies, procedures and disciplines are adhered to and that the Company complies with all its statutory requirements
