Woodbury University invites applications for the position of Director of Information Technology (IT). Reporting to the Vice President of Finance & Accounting, the Director of IT is responsible for leadership, visions, and direction of the University’s enterprise information assets to ensure their integrity, efficiency, relevance, and accessibility. This position oversees all academic and administrative technology serving the Burbank and San Diego campuses and has a strong customer service orientation while being responsible for ensuring that information technology services meet the curricular and administrative requirements of the University. These are determined from institutional goals and the strategic plan guiding the University through capacity building in support of ambitious expansion and growth.

Salary/Hourly Range: $140,429.00 - $150,461.00 (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
Responsibilities
- Lead IT strategic and operational implementations to achieve institutional goals both short- and long-term by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems.
- Provides technological vision, long-range planning, and directing for all functions of the University in support of the University’s strategic plan and both institutional and organizational goals.
- Consults with and provides solutions for university divisions, schools, and departments in the use of technology to improve both processes and services.
- Ensures Information Technology (IT) resources and data are secured against unauthorized access and are thoroughly protected against loss. Maintains an IT Disaster Recovery Plan and the IT related components of the University’s Business Continuity Plan.
- Directs staff and overall operations of the IT department ensuring that its services meet and exceed the expectations of faculty, staff, students and campus visitors.
- Manages the selection, purchase, installation, integration, maintenance, and ongoing support of the full spectrum of the University’s technology systems and resources including: Enterprise and department-wide applications and associated computer hardware; networking infrastructure including all WANs, LANs (both wired and wireless), and telephone systems; computer workstations including both PCs and Macs; academic computer lab hardware and software; and classroom based computer technology (workstations, projectors…)
- Prepares and manages IT budgets and evaluates the cost of current and future IT systems.
- Identifies, develops, implements, and maintains all IT related policies.
- Builds and manages IT vendor relationships for the benefit of the University. Consults with and negotiates purchase terms and contracts with software, hardware, and telecommunications vendors.
- Supports the University efforts in fund-raising and procuring donations to offset overall technology costs.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A minimum of five years highly successful experience as a Lead of IT or Director of IT for an institution of similar size or larger (2,000 + computer users) with eight to ten years working in the IT field.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or technology related field required; Master’s degree is preferred.
- Planning for and managing technological change. Experience in preparing and implementing IT strategic plan(s).
- Establishing and managing diverse application delivery approaches from traditional in-house hosting to cloud hosting to mobile apps.
- Managing both business systems and technical applications is a plus.
- Proven leadership and personnel management skills and the ability to effectively work with a diverse population of IT customers each having unique needs.
- Demonstrates proven competencies in transforming, building, and growing a strong IT and delivery service organization that achieves efficient operations and provides the highest business value through effective management.
- Detail oriented with strong project planning, execution, and management expertise. Hands on when necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
