Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Director to join our organization and provide strategic leadership and direction to our information technology department in the US. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional technical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovation, efficiency, and effectiveness in IT and Security. As our new IT Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our IT/IS operations for US, managing a team of skilled professionals, and driving the implementation of technology solutions to support our business objectives. The Director IT – US reports to the Global Head of IS/IT and the position is based in Wallingford, CT.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Contribute to, and execute on our IT strategy and direction, aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Identify emerging technologies and trends relevant to the company's industry and evaluate their potential impact on the business.
- Collaborate with executive management to define technology roadmaps and prioritize IT initiatives, ensuring harmonization of technology tools and platforms.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the day-to-day IT operations, ensuring the availability, security, and reliability of the company's technology infrastructure, systems, and applications.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of IT systems and data through proactive monitoring, risk assessment, and disaster recovery planning.
- Support in developing and enforcing IT policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize efficiency and mitigate risks.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts, including negotiation and performance monitoring.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of technology solutions that align with business requirements and drive operational excellence through continuous improvement.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives and explore opportunities for automation, process improvement, and innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to understand their technology needs and align IT initiatives with their requirements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing guidance on technology trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead and prioritize IT projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and meeting quality standards.
- Implement project management methodologies and tools to improve project execution and stakeholder communication.
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in a leadership role within an IT department, with a track record of successfully driving technology initiatives.
- In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and applications, including network architecture, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data management.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into effective technology solutions.
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools
- Strong business acumen and the ability to align technology strategies with overall business objectives.
- In-depth knowledge of IT governance, risk management, and compliance
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP, CISSP) are highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of regulations and standards including familiarity with ISO 27001
