JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced IT professional to join Goodwill SF Bay as the Director of IT. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of information technology and ensuring the effective implementation and management of IT systems across our retail store locations and office spaces. Your role will be crucial in providing strategic direction, training/mentorship to our team of IT professionals, and building relationships cross-functionally to meet the current needs of the organization.
This position can choose between our SF or Oakland office as their primary location, but will need to travel in between both as well as all other Goodwill SF bay locations as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and Strategy:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the IT department, aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement IT strategies, policies, and procedures that enhance operational efficiency, security, and user experience.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the IT team and across the organization.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends and assess their potential impact on Goodwill SF Bay's IT infrastructure.
- Function as the customer liaison to department needs within the organization.
- Provide options for software, hardware and other technology based solutions while considering scale, comprehensive system architecture and priorities.
- Anticipate IT infrastructure needs and strategies by considering industry trends and benchmarks.
Team Management and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Create a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and individual growth.
- Set performance goals for the IT team and ensure their alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching to enhance team productivity and effectiveness.
IT Operations and Service Delivery:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring the stability and reliability of systems, networks, and applications.
- Oversee the maintenance of the Point of Sale (POS) systems, ensuring seamless operations across our retail locations
- Provide additional training to store employees and managers on the POS system as needed
- Implement remote IT services to provide solutions to our retail store locations without being onsite
- Monitor and manage IT service levels, including incident response, problem resolution, and user support, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Vendor Management and Financial Oversight:
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
- Collaborate with finance team to develop and manage the IT department's annual budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
- Track IT expenditures and provide regular reports on budget performance and return on investment, making recommendations for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within an IT department or organization.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a track record of successfully managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and emerging technologies, with the ability to effectively communicate these back to the team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with implementing remote IT solutions
- Familiarity with retail organizations is desirable.
- Ability to occasionally travel to different Goodwill SF Bay store locations as needed.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds as needed.
