Job description

Job ID: 2351

The Muhlenberg Career Center partners with students, faculty, staff, employers, and alumni to develop innovative career exploration resources and programs. We help students and alumni prepare for life-long career satisfaction through a variety of one-on-one interactions, digital resources, curricular and co-curricular programs, and intentional partnerships. Through these interactions, students and alumni learn to showcase their skills and experiences, make meaningful connections, articulate the strengths of a liberal arts degree, and seize ownership of their futures. Students at Muhlenberg College have a preference for face-to-face, one-on-one interactions with career center coaches, and the Director for Career Coaching & Education (CC&E) will be primarily responsible for leading the coaching and educational programs that meet this student need. Reporting to the Executive Director of Career Services, the Director will be required to also provide career coaching to current students and alumni. The Director can expect that approximately 50 percent of their time will be providing strategy, and program management/leadership programs that provide direct career support. Additionally, approximately 50 percent of their time will be spent engaging with student and alumni career coaching appointments. The director of CC&E will be chiefly responsible for scheduling and coordinating staffing for admission, athletics, and other campus partner events, as well as coordinating faculty classroom engagement opportunities and expanding career integration in the classroom.

Schedule & Benefits: At Muhlenberg, we value your work/life balance and are pleased to offer this full-time opportunity with a schedule of 40 hours per week, year-round, with potential for partial remote work. Muhlenberg offers a highly competitive benefits package, including generous holidays (including an extended winter break between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day), vacation (22 days per year), sick leave, paid parental leave, tuition programs at the undergraduate and graduate level, medical, dental and vision coverage, flexible spending plans, College-provided short-and long-term disability, life insurance, and retirement.

The College & Surrounding Area: Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg College is a private, four-year residential, liberal arts college offering baccalaureate and graduate programs. Muhlenberg College is dedicated to shaping creative, compassionate, collaborative leaders through rigorous academic programs in the arts, humanities, business, natural sciences and social sciences; as well as pre-professional programs in law, health and theology; and progressive workforce-focused post-baccalaureate certificates and master’s degrees. As part of eastern Pennsylvania’s scenic Lehigh Valley, Allentown is a diverse city of 125,000, located just 60 miles north of Philadelphia and 90 miles west of New York City. As the third largest city in the state, and along with neighboring Bethlehem and Easton, the region is home to a vibrant arts scene, extensive parks and recreational opportunities, and a rich blend of diverse cuisine.
