Job description

This role is based within the Regional Delivery (RD) Centre of Excellence (CoE). RD delivers soft and hard FM services - building, maintaining, and servicing - across the majority of MODs built assets in the UK and overseas. The CoE leverages knowledge from across RD and DIO supporting functions to develop better solutions, provide consistent and coherent advice and strategic direction.

As part of the RD CoE Chief of Staff team, you will help to ensure that RD operates within a coherent and consistent governance framework which maximises authority and accountability across the organisation. The team is responsible for providing support to drive forward business governance, assisting in facilitating effective reporting and acting as a conduit for RD, DIO, MOD and Civil Service initiatives to enable the business area to operate as an efficient, cohesive unit.

It is a busy but rewarding post where you will experience work of an interesting, multifaceted, and challenging nature. The Governance Assistant will support the RD Chief of Staff and the wider team and work on key functions including the management, control and reporting of workforce data, audit/assurance tracking, supporting on Parliamentary Business and coordinating learning and development activity across the team.

We are seeking an individual who has the ability to use their own initiative and is comfortable working in a fast paced environment, managing multiple priorities. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a flexible innovative approach, enabling them to adapt quickly to changing/urgent requirements. You should have strong communication skills both written and face-to-face, with experience of dealing with a wide range of staff including Senior Management.

Working Pattern


The post advertised is for 37 hours net, however the Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Flexible working and Compressed Hours working patterns will be considered.

Selection process details
