Sky News is looking for digital journalists to join our award-winning team of video producers.
These are key roles with a mandate to innovate across all Sky News video, including our app and website and our social channels. We are looking for people with demonstrable experience of pitching, producing and publishing news video to TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Crucially, the successful candidates will have exceptional news judgement, clear accurate writing skills and an understanding of our legal and editorial guidelines. They will be as equally motivated by quick turnaround breaking news video as well as original digital storytelling.
Our commissions range from short-form vertical edits to long-form 16:9 films. The candidates must be accomplished in using music, graphics and editing to make distinctive, shareable content. On top of your creative flair, you’ll use analytics and optimisation to make sure your video reaches as many people as possible.
This role will require someone with the confidence to flourish in a dynamic newsroom, and to collaborate with some of the best news teams from around the world.
Your technical knowledge of editing software and industry standard methodology is as important as your journalistic credentials.
What you'll do:
- Create tailored and optimised digital video content that reflects Sky News values
- Pitch new and exciting video formats and ideas – and have the experience to deliver them
- Develop video formats to increase growth, consumption and engagement on key social platforms
- Produce Snapchat Discover stories and shows
- Work in tandem with Assistant Editors, Output Editors and News Editors to ensure accuracy and legal rigour is maintained to the highest standards
What you'll bring:
- First-rate editing experience using Adobe Premiere
- Working knowledge of the rest of Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects and Photoshop
- Working knowledge of Quantel RIO very desirable
- Self-shooting experience very desirable, particularly on GH5 kit
- Experience of working in a quick-paced, high-pressured news environment with tight deadlines
- Experience working within complex and multidimensional work environments
- In-depth knowledge of the news media, emerging technologies, changing audience behaviour and new platforms
- Strong understanding of audience behaviour and demonstrable understanding of how to create compelling content services that meet or exceed their demands
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- A calm, detailed and methodical approach to work
- Highly motivated and creative
