As a Digital Technical Lead- E-commerce, you will be part of a growing global team within the Kohler Co., working to support new digital initiatives across Kohler businesses. Collaborating with other developers and architects to create innovative technical solutions and frameworks that will build Kohler Co. moving forward.

You will design and deliver digital marketing solutions for our customers, using your technical knowledge to realize a business vision. You will be tasked with creating standard projects and solutions, that maximize the use of standard features of our technology, and minimize creation of special cases and once-only customization.

Working with the delivery teams to ensure that the right work is being delivered, and also with the business to guide and educate on the correct way to position our solutions. You will bring a strong technical consulting background and will be tasked with conducting technical customer/prospect discovery sessions, driving the design of solution. You will be part of a global team delivering to a high standard and focusing on technical work to on-board our customers quickly and effectively


You will be focused on continuous improvement and learning, drive towards solutions and help shape the future digital development capabilities at Kohler Co.

Basic Objective

  • Operate as the technical influence of consumer facing web sites and e-Commerce solutions, operating in a fast-paced environment of changing priorities that require frequent re-balancing and re-factoring.
  • Provide solution architecture and design, perform gap analysis between business requirements and platform features.
  • Define non-functional requirements and development processes, platform and tools usage for solution delivery.
  • Review and audit of architecture, design and solution delivery.
  • Act as a thought leader on emerging technologies and their application to the digital product roadmap.

Specific responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Scrum masters, Architects, QA, Dev/Ops, as well as multiple organizations within the company to deliver high-quality products on time, on target and within budget.
  • Responsible for all assigned delivery activities across the offshore technical / scrum team and be the onshore escalation point for all application support and development issues specific to their assigned domain and projects.
  • Mentor developers. Perform code reviews. Be a guide for engineering best practices.
  • Partner with the onshore Product Manager to ensure customer requirements are being communicated to the scrum team and teams are collaborating successfully.
    Provide guidance to development team throughout all phases of scrum (backlog grooming, sprint planning, estimation/story pointing and retro/demo)
  • Recommend resource assignments on projects across a multi-faceted team on multiple products and platforms
  • Provide input into architecting the hardware environment, services platform, application platform, and database. Work with Dev/Ops on managing the lower environments (dev, qa, uat, build servers, deployment, etc.)
  • Work with architects and management to manage risk identification and risk mitigation strategies associated with the architecture. Help ensure the architecture is sustainable, deployable, and secure
  • Create and enforce technical, coding standards, tools, platforms, and approaches
  • Coordinate with the development teams and vendors to ensure the right teams are working on the right build components at the right time, with clear expectations of milestones and goals
  • Collaborate with Delivery Team and provide expertise on IT methodology and Agile processes
  • Apply and execute microservice, API and integration development best practices while adhering to team and industry coding standards, and corporate policies
  • Analyse and support development of specifications, considering feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities required for services
  • Support the creation and curation of documentation and repositories to describe program development, logic, coding, and versioning, including standards for PCI and SOX compliance

Skills/Requirements

  • At least 3 years hands-on experience with modern web frameworks delivering robust software and solutions for enterprise e-commerce applications
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Working with offshore technology vendors
  • Delivering technical projects using Agile Scrum
  • Working in a Cloud platform (Azure preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of Javascript, Node, Java and experience with search tools such as Lucidworks, Solr or Elasticsearch
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
