Role Summary
As Digital Marketing Assistant, you will assist with the development and implementation of the
Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s digital communications strategy.
You’ll use your editorial skills and understanding of user experience to optimise the RCS website.
Through this, you’ll be helping to market and promote our degree programmes, Short Courses,
Junior Conservatoire, and performances.
The role will focus on ensuring that our online content is accurate, compelling, and engages audiences.
This is an opportunity to work within a busy and varied Marketing and Communications team and to grow your skills in Scotland’s national conservatoire.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will be required to undertake the duties and responsibilities detailed below:
- Assist in developing and maintaining the content management system (CMS) for the RCS website (currently Wordpress).
- Support the Website Editor to liaise with external web developers and designers to improve the RCS website.
- Assist in liaising with staff from across the Conservatoire to develop new, engaging web content.
- Build and update webpages, ensuring that copy, images and videos are of the highest quality and are laid out according to best practise and accessibility guidelines.
- Write, edit and proofread copy for RCS’s digital channels (website, blog and social media) as required, ensuring good search engine optimisation (SEO).
- Resize or crop images using appropriate software such as Photoshop or Canva.
- Ensure that all content adheres to the brand guidelines and editorial house style.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for content approval prior to publication.
- Support the Website Editor to set up and monitor automated user journeys using web forms and email marketing software.
- Assist with setting up tracking systems for digital activity and creating redirect short URLs for printed materials.
- Support the evaluation and development of marketing and communications activity by suggesting opportunities for continuous improvement and development of RCS’s online presence.
- Keep up to date with new and emerging digital technologies, and liaise with colleagues in the Marketing and Communications team to scope out, test and introduce new elements to RCS’s digital offering.
- Participate in the Conservatoire’s Goals Setting and Career Review process.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties on behalf of the Marketing and Communications team.
