At Alchemist, were looking for a Digital Marketing Apprentice to join our team and be responsible for creating content around the latest learning and development trends, creating and monitoring campaigns and getting innovative to find ways to drive more traffic. Everyone on the team needs to be comfortable with data analysis, have a keen eye for detail and be eager to work in a fast-paced environment.


Alchemist is growing rapidly, and we’re creating so much content, we need an extra pair of hands to help us manage, share and create more! A digital marketing apprenticeship with Alchemist is a great way to get your foot in the door. With the right combination of hard work, experience, and passion, you can make your mark on the marketing sector. First, let’s take a look at what exactly this job entails.

Our apprenticeship will involve working with colleagues and clients to create content that drives traffic to our websites and social media pages. This will include website page design, SEO optimisation, email campaigns, and other forms of online promotion. You'll also be expected to have a good understanding of Google Analytics. This will allow you to track how effective your efforts are and adjust your strategy accordingly.


You'll also need strong communication skills since you'll be interacting with various stakeholders on a regular basis. You should be able to explain complex concepts in simple terms and present them clearly. In addition, problem-solving skills are essential since you'll need to think on your feet and find creative solutions when things don't go according to plan or go better than expected and need more input.

Finally, having an interest in the learning and development sector is key. You should have an interest in both up-and-coming trends in education technology and marketing techniques so that you can effectively find ways to best reach our target audience using digital marketing methods.

  • Communicating with the marketing team about existing and new marketing activities.
  • Supporting the onsite team with real-time digital content for events such as trade shows
  • Working with our media partners on content campaigns to increase customer acquisition.
  • Managing and creating appropriate content for the variety of channels we use to engage with our key markets
  • Website page creation and optimisation.
  • Digital media management.
  • Working with our internal design studio to create compelling and visually appealing content.
  • Using Hubspot for data management and marketing automations.
  • Researching and analysing market trends and competitors.
  • Identifying and measuring marketing outcomes to increase the efficiency of marketing activities within the company.




Hours: 40.00 per week

1. Communication

Our Apprentice needs to be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including clients and colleagues. They need to be able to explain learning and development and general business opportunities, risks and concepts in simple terms and be able to write clear and concise copy.

2. Creativity

Our Apprentice needs to be creative in order to come up with new and innovative ideas that will capture the attention of our audience in the business community. We love fresh ideas that will make our campaigns stand out from the competition.


3. Organisational Skills

In the Alchemist Marketing Team, we all share the responsibility to be well-organised in order to manage our individual time effectively and meet deadlines. Our Apprentice needs to be able to prioritise tasks, plan ahead, and stay on track even when things get hectic.

4. Time Management

We work to tight deadlines and evolving requirements, so our apprentice needs to be good at managing their time in order to complete all their tasks within the allotted time frame. They need to be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and use their time wisely.


5. Research Skills

Our Apprentice needs strong research skills in order to find the information they need for their campaigns. They need to know how to use various research tools, such as Google AdWords Keyword Planner and Google Trends, and they should also be comfortable conducting primary research through surveys and interviews.

6. Analytical Skills

Strong analytical skills will be needed to interpret data and make informed decisions about our campaigns. As the apprenticeship progresses, the responsibility for making independent decisions will grow. They need to be able to use various analytical tools, such as Google Analytics, and they should also be comfortable working with spreadsheets and data sets.

7. Attention to Detail

The Digital Marketing Apprentice needs to have a keen attention to detail in order to produce high-quality work that meets the standards of the Alchemist marketing team. They need to proofread their work carefully and catch errors that could potentially damage our reputation.


8. Flexibility

Our Apprentice needs to be flexible in order to adapt quickly to changes in our business or within our campaigns. They might need to change strategies on the fly or pivot their focus depending on the latest trends or developments, so they must be able to handle change without getting frazzled or overwhelmed.

Training Provided:

The successful applicant will be required to attend Exeter College one day a week to work towards the completion of:

  • Level 3 Digital Marketer Diploma
  • BCS Level 3 Digital Marketer Modules
  • End Point Assessment

Additional Information:

We operate in a co-working space in an open plan members’ only café, mixed with days in the office.


Five or more GCSE’s, including Maths and English and a business related subject at level 5 or above, and a demonstrable interest in marketing.
