Job description
This research position is designed to support an artificial intelligence-assisted digital pathology project to validate in real life the use of a CE approved application to help the identification of metastasis in lymph nodes from patients with breast and colorectal carcinoma. The post holder will also contribute to the implementation of Digital Pathology within the department of cellular pathology.
To contribute to main tasks of the of the project including anonymisation of slides, and compliance of NCA and University research governance and data protection policies
To be involved in staff training in the use of whole slide scanners
To have a role in the implementation of digital pathology in diagnostic provision and translational research as well as in a wider range of activities in the field of digital and computational pathology.
This position includes
Support a research project to validate in real-life the CE-approved, market ready Visiopharm application VS90159MDAPP in colorectal and breast carcinoma.
The post holder will be involved in the retrieval of slides, collection of the pathological reports and clinical annotations, randomization distribution of slides to breast and gastro-intestinal pathologists, analysis of data obtained with VS90159MDAPP, and monitoring technical and consultant time using the application ATracker Pro.
The post holder will contribute to the development of DP at the Department of Cellular Pathology at NCA.
A close working collaboration with academics, information technology at the University of Manchester and NHS, and with business partners will also be necessary.
An understanding of Data Protection Act and University and NHS policy legislation's and regulations such as the Human tissue Act is required.
The post holder will be responsible of the daily running of a digital pathology project with minimal supervision
