Balfour Beatty are delivering one of the most complex marine engineering projects currently taking place in the world to support the construction of the first new nuclear power station built in the UK in a generation.
The project will see the construction of three tunnels under the seabed that will supply the two reactors at Hinkley Point C with cooling water and then discharge it back into the Bristol Channel.
Our experts will use state-of-the-art technology to excavate a total of nine kilometres of tunnel, which will be lined with 38,000 concrete segments forming 6000 lining rings. The tunnels will be connected to the seabed by vertical shafts and capped with large intake and outfall heads, each weighing close to 5000 tonnes, that allow sea water to pass into the tunnels. Both the concrete segments and the heads are under manufactured to exacting specifications at a purpose-built state-of-the-art facility at Balfour Beatty’s site in Avonmouth, Bristol.
Balfour Beatty has a terrific opportunity for a Digital Engineer to join our amazing Major Projects team to work in Hinkley Point, Bridgwater, Somerset.
What you'll be doing
As a Digital Engineer, you will support the Digital Manager in delivery of the Digital Execution /Implementation plan on the Hinkley Point C project.
Following company/client/Government standards and procedures relating to
Digital and integrating into information management within the Project to deliver a successful Digital project.
- Creating files and ensuring the appropriate file attributes are captured correctly
- Producing and /or amending information in accordance with the Project SMP
- Ensuring graphical models (they produce) escalating any interfaces issues to the Interface Manager
- Ensuring all element of the Information Model are fully coordinated with each other
- Submitting information for approval in accordance with the TIDP
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
- Can demonstrate some technical / digital ability
- Keen to learn, develop to support member of the Digital team.
- Good communication skills
- Proficiency in IT
- Ability to form effective relationships with the project team, supply chain partners and clients under time pressure
