Job description
DotGO are looking for a full time Digital Designer to build beautiful, hardworking brochure and ecommerce websites.
This is first and foremost a design role; you don’t need to worry about HTML or coding. We are looking for digital designers who, through training and natural talent, have a great eye for what looks good, and can build websites that are both pieces of art and commercially successful for our clients.
This is an ideal opportunity for a smart, young and sociable designer to join our established design department.
LOCATION
Our studio is based in Caterham CR3 5QX. Ideally, you will live close.
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a remote position - we want you in the office!
REQUIREMENTS
As well as a natural flare for digital design and some knowledge of Photoshop, we are looking for candidates who have 6 main skills and experience:
1. Great Design Skills
We are less interested in your website coding skills (we will train you). We are much more interested in your design ‘eye’ – This is something that we cannot train. We will give preference to candidates who have a digital design or graphic design qualification and/or a great portfolio. Previous web design experience, either with a company or freelance, is a plus – ideally a role in which you have worked to tight deadlines.
2. A Commercial Mind Set
We do not just build beautiful looking websites – we build websites and online shops that our customers rely on to make money. Our ideal candidate will ideally have an experience working in a business or retail environment, and be able to balance design, art and beauty with logic, ease of use and commercial thinking.
3. A people person
DotGO stands out in sea of website design companies as the genuine ‘Internet good guys’ (take a look at our amazing Trust pilot reviews). We pride ourselves on the rapport we build with our clients. Our ideal candidate will be someone who is willing to collaborate, listen, engage and build a relationship with every client they work with. Previous account management experience is a plus, and confidence on the phone is a must.
4. Incredibly Well Organised
Our designers are expected to process a large number of websites a month, all at different stages. You need to be very organised, self-motivated and able to juggle many tasks at once.
5. Cultural Fit
Our design team is a happy, close-knit, talented team brimming with energy. We have a quirky, authentic, extrovert culture. Everyone works as a team, sharing successes and learning from each other. There is no dress code. We all get on well and like and respect each other. There are no egos. It is vital that you fit our office culture. We are looking for someone who is kind, eager, friendly, sociable and eager to learn new things.
6. Confident communicator
You will be assigned your own customers and then be fully responsible for managing the relationship. Since most of the communication will take place over the phone, you need to be (or become) a very confident communicator.
SKILLS:
You must be very competent at Adobe Photoshop, using Windows PCs and all MS Office Products.
The role requires some written ability, both in regards to communication with clients and when building and optimising a website.
You will need to have a good attention to detail and be able to audit your own work thoroughly.
You should be interested in understanding how the internet works, and able to grasp new ideas and technologies quickly.
