DevOps Engineer | AWS, Kubernetes, Bash, Python, Kafka | Sports Hedge Fund
Due to the nature of this role and their very cool office in North London, you will be required to work in the office 3 days a week and from home 2 days a week. In return, you will be fed and watered with free cooked breakfast lunch and dinner by on-site chefs (optional of course) along with a great working environment and tech stack!
Our booming client is over 10yrs old, with a headcount of 220, 75 of which are in IT with 12 being in operations. They have been through a technical journey for the last 18 months moving from on-prem to a majority AWS hybrid infrastructure. They are seeking DevOps Engineers to join their Data Engineering team. You will have strong hands-on technical skills, with experience in deploying and supporting AWS cloud technology. Our client also has an on-premises Kubernetes environment so if you have any Kubernetes exposure this will be fantastic.
You will develop ownership and architect Data Analytics platforms in AWS using infrastructure as code best practices and support the team in building systems that are cost-effective.
Also key for this role will be driving the automation of the development and deployment processes via a range of new technologies and techniques including increasing the adoption of infrastructure as code practices.
Core skills required:
- AWS - very strong knowledge of production cloud deployments
- Security best practices
- Production monitoring and alerting of micro-service-based systems
- Container-based deployments
- Scripting languages (preferably Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
- Load balancing and HTTP services
- High-availability clustering solutions
Core technologies wanted:
- Kubernetes, EKS, Rancher
- Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation
- CI/CD tooling, Jenkins, Octopus
- Linux
- Python and Bash scripting
- Kubernetes, Helm
- Kafka and Kinesis Streams
- EMR, Presto, Apache Spark, Dremio and similar
- Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation
- ELK, CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana
