Hours of work: Monday to Friday 9:00 - 17:00 (37.5 hours)

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join a market-leading telecommunications company and join our growing Operations team to help us build functional systems that improve internal and external customer experience. We are looking for a DevOps engineer who can be responsible for deploying product updates, improve our monitoring solutions, identify production issues, and implementing integrations that meet our customers’ needs.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in software engineering and be familiar with automating release processes and best practices, and will work with developers and engineers to ensure that software development follows established processes and works as intended.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Building and implementing new internal tools and infrastructure to help improve the full development lifecycle
- Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying them to developers
- Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
- Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
- Working on monitoring our internal tools and applications
- Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes
- Being a key intermediary between our Web Operations and Development Team.
- Identifying and correcting weaknesses in the current monitoring capabilities
- Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
Responsibilities
- Deploy updates and fixes of our latest software solutions
- Build tools to reduce occurrence of errors and improve customer experience
- Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems
- Perform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issues
- Develop scripts to automate virtualisation
- Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
We require you to have:
- Experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar software engineering role
- Proficiency with Git and GitLab CLI workflows
- High Proficiency in Linux CLI (Ideally Ubuntu)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL server or another data store such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience of monitoring tools such as Zabbix, PRTG or Prometheus.
- Exposure to Docker or Kubernetes.
- Good knowledge of scripting via Python, PowerShell, and Bash.

- Awareness of DevOps and Agile principles.
Desirable:
- Bachelor of science degree (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or relevant field
- Experience in developing/engineering applications for a medium or large company
- Exposure to IAC tools such as Terraform.
- Any exposure or experience of Application Performance Monitoring Tools such as New Relic or Dynatrace.
- Exposure to Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Puppet and Chef.
- Experience working with automation testing tools such as Selenium and Appium
- Any experience or exposure to Centralised Logging tools such as GrayLog or the Elastic Stack.
- Experience or knowledge of Vmware infrastructure would be beneficial
