Job purpose:
We are recruiting an Engagement Lead to support the development engagement and communications across the whole organisation in support of the SVP of Development and the Development Leadership Team. The individual will report into the SVP Development and work closely with Development LT to drive clear and consistent messages outlining our scientific ambitions and programmes to the organisation and other GSK stakeholders by utilising the best tactics and channels available to them and communicating in a way that bridges between the leaders’ personal styles and what best serves the audiences.

Your responsibilities:
The individual will be comfortable working with senior stakeholders and able to foster a trusted relationship with the SVP of Development, his direct reports and the wider development extended LT, bringing creative ideas to the table but also appropriately providing challenging ideas and options to better leadership engagement.
In addition, there is a broad network of communicators in different programmes/projects and functions within Development as well as corporately within the Communications and Government Affairs (CGA) organisation (e.g. R&D Culture & Engagement, Pipeline & Product), all of whom need to be partnered with to ensure an integrated approach to Development engagement and communication.
Given the complex, global and matrixed organisation, the individual will need to effectively prioritise what they spend their time on, and focus comms efforts on the most important areas that align to business objectives.
Support required:
Support the Development LT in the design and delivery of the Development Communication & Engagement plan and a simple compelling story that resonates and connects to the wider R&D strategy and narrative.
Build a plan that connects Development to our 2023 Objectives.
Ensure activities are coordinated and messages communicated to all the levels of the organisation appropriately and meaningfully
Ensure appropriate and timely cascade of broader GSK communications within Development, amplifying key updates in partnership with
Leadership Teams
R&D Culture & Engagement team to amplify key R&D messages and provide Development input where needed
Corporate CGA communications teams on cascading New GSK messaging/announcements and amplifying relevant corporate initiatives
Participate as an extended member of Development LT meetings to coordinate Development communication activities aligned to the Development Communication and Engagement plan.
Deliver impactful messaging and content for communication and engagement events with an initial focus on quarterly Town Halls / Let’s Talks and Development workshops
Further events / interventions to be defined based on Development Communications and Engagement plan
For each event, drive the agenda/content of events, speaker coordination, develop briefing documents/talking points for presenters, support speakers in Development with their slide presentations, coordinate logistical set-up working with the Executive Assistants in Development
Leverage existing channels effectively (Intranet, Newsletters, Workplace, e-mails, etc.). Ensure adoption and usage of any new communication channels.
Maintain the Development intranet site
Take accountability of the Development site content and strategy and ensure this site is keep up to date on all aspects
Coordinate Development communication deliverables with or without an external agency (being mindful of where time, resource, and budget is focused) and manage budget accordingly. Examples of agency support:
Creation of videos
Creation of animation/infographics
Creation of any specific campaigns necessary to deliver against business objectives
Support the SVP of Development in their internal communications (drafting, coaching, designing) and at priority engagements within GSK
Build further communication capabilities of Development LT
Develop and strengthen key messages for Development based on priority topics
Create training material/guidelines/reference documents to support and set standards for communications in Development and their teams (e.g. intranet, workplace, video shooting, workplace, visuals creations)
Partner with the Development network to strategically planned the communication for the in-depth pipeline development updates that will be shared within R&D.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Bachelor in Communication
>5y experience in communication in Pharma R&D
Digital content and media expertise
Experience of coordinating cross functional teams in a matrix environment
Track record of influencing key stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Experience developing and driving complex communication plans for Sr. Leaders and their organizations
Organizing complex face to face interfaces such as global events
Ability to work with senior leaders and be a trusted partner and advisor to the SVP of Development.
