We serve our clients’ real economic needs in commercial banking, investment banking, private banking and asset management. We are investing heavily in digital technologies, prioritizing long term success over short-term gains, and serving society with ambition and integrity. The Deutsche Bank Investment Banking Apprenticeship Programme:Join Deutsche Bank and transform the world of banking. Our apprenticeship programme will transform your career, providing you with world-class training (full financial sponsorship towards an Applied Finance degree at Queen Mary and professional qualifications such as CISI/IMC and CFA), exposure to fascinating projects, and endless opportunities to gain the skills you need to innovate for the benefit of our clients and society. You’ll work alongside some of the industry’s top minds and build a network around you that that will help drive your career in the direction you want it to go in. We look for talented and driven candidates who will thrive in an inclusive culture where individuality defines your impact. If you want to develop the knowledge and skills needed to build a thriving financial services career, Deutsche Bank is the place to discover your full potential. About the business division:Discover the world of financial markets with a career in our Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) division. Here we bring together a top-ranked institutional sales force and world-class research with trading and structuring expertise across Foreign Exchange, Rates, Credit and Emerging Markets. The Fixed Income & Currencies business enables Deutsche Bank to respond to increasing automation, regulatory expectations and client demand for standardisation and transparency in execution across fixed income, currency, and emerging markets. Our teams work together in collaboration to ensure our clients achieve their goals. Foreign ExchangeDeutsche Bank is an industry recognised leader in the foreign exchange business. Our client centric approach helps us to serve the needs of our customers across the full product spectrum from basic liquidity provision in the spot market to innovative derivative solutions for both asset and liability managers. RatesDeutsche Bank’s Rates business provides a comprehensive range of fixed income securities and OTC derivatives. As market makers we offer clients liquidity across Cash, Swaps, Options and Repo desks, leveraging product expertise through our Global Sales, Trading & Structuring teams. As a macro trading desk, Rates dynamically reacts to the economic environment and is a fast paced and increasingly electronic world. Our product range covers a suite of cash and OTC products and provides one of the best foundations to understand financial markets. CreditDeutsche Bank’s global Credit trading business enables clients to meet their investment objectives and manage credit risk. With industry-leading expertise in market-making and credit valuation, we offer clients a wide range of products across Flow Credit, Distressed Products and Structured Finance Trading. Products traded include bonds, loans, and claims, ranging from the strongest investment grade issuers through high yield to distressed assets. Our Structured Finance experts provide structured risk and non-flow financing solutions for clients across multiple industries and asset classes. Global Emerging MarketsDeutsche Bank’s EM business is a truly global enterprise, operating a hub and spoke model to leverage deep pockets of expertise in emerging economies around the world. The business syndicates and trades risk across a vast product spectrum, from FX, interest rates, bonds, and structured solutions, to help our clients manage their risk and grow their businesses. Division specifics about the apprentice role: As an apprentice, you’ll be provided with the training, study support and on-the-job coaching to accelerate your career. With study support towards a degree in Applied Finance and professional qualifications (e.g., CISI/IMC, CFA), skills and technical financial training, along with introductions to Senior Leaders, you’ll be part of the team from day 1 with learning and development opportunities throughout your first year and beyond. Apprentices will also be supported by a mentor within the business, in addition to HR and their line manager. Apprentices will spend approximately 20% of their time studying (either at QMUL on campus or remotely) with on-going academic module assessment by QMUL and two end point assessments (assessed by an independent third party assessor) as part of the apprenticeship scheme (at the end of year 2, leading to Level 4 investment operations specialist apprentice award and end of year 4, leading to Level 6 financial services apprentice award) in addition to assessments provided by practitioner qualification providers (CISI, IMC, CFA). Furthermore, apprentices will gain a degree in BSc (Hons) Applied Finance at the end of the 4 years subject to passing all required assessments. Your rotational experience in FIC will give you the opportunity to work in different teams and have a varied role. Your tasks might include industry research, company performance monitoring, pricing products for traders, preparing financial data analysis, pitching trades to the team, participating in client calls, or refining the way we do forecasts. In addition, you will be involved in live deals, exploring new private financing & lending opportunities, preparing marketing materials for clients, and reviewing deal pricing and structure comparisons. The possibilities are endless so whichever areas you experience, the apprenticeship program is an ideal way to kickstart your career. You will learn from the best, evolve professionally as well as personally, and build a firm foundation upon which to specialise later. Whichever path you take, by the end of your programme you’ll have the skills and experience to continue a long-term career with us. What we look for:We’re looking for enthusiastic, driven individuals with a thirst for knowledge and a desire to problem solve. Strong communication skills and a passion for the world of finance will allow you to thrive in our collocative, fast paced, and innovative teams. Our people have degrees in many different disciplines from across the world so even though good levels of numeracy are important for some roles, you don’t necessarily need a background in quantitative subjects. Our extensive training programmes coupled with Queen Mary’s Applied Finance degree education, will give you all the technical knowledge you’ll need to build a career with us. Above all, we’re looking for entrepreneurial people who thrive best in a diverse culture where innovation and agile thinking abound. Collaborate with some of the best minds in banking and help our clients achieve their goals. You already have a record of outstanding academic achievement and you’re eager to go on learning at the same intensive rate so join Deutsche Bank, start your career, and thrive. Please note that to apply for our 2023 Apprenticeship Programme you must have finished from Sixth form (school, academy or college) in 2023 or have graduated in the last 12 months (i.e., in 2022). Offers will be conditional on acceptance to the Applied Finance degree programme at Queen Mary so we encourage all applicants to ensure they meet the minimum entry requirements (e.g. At least 3 A-Levels at AAA or the UCAS points equivalent from their 3 best A Level grades (i.e. A*, A, B or A*, A*, C), with a minimum A in A Level Maths”) as set out in the relevant course page Applied Finance - Queen Mary University of London (qmul.ac.uk).
