We are Usay Compare, the UK’s largest Private Medical Insurance Intermediary. Originating in 2008, we now have circa 250 employees and 5 office locations in Cirencester, Bristol, Bournemouth, Taunton London and a home-based team!
We are looking for a passionate 1st Line Systems Support Desktop and Server Engineer to join our team in Bournemouth on a part-time, permanent basis!
Hours required:
20 hrs a week
Monday, Wednesday, Friday

This is a very hands-on, fast paced role that will require you to support the Systems Support Engineer maintain, upgrade, and implement all IT infrastructure needs ensuring all departments within the Company are fully functional and protected.
The role:
- To maintain and upgrade Company phone systems.
- To ensure the internal network is secure and all IT security regulations are enforced.
- To build workstations for new users ensuring they have the appropriate applications and settings required.
- To patch workstations for users as required.
- To decommission workstations for ex-users.
- Follow all disaster recovery procedures and ensure backups are off site at all times.
- To maintain internet access so employees can access the external servers.
- Ensure all calls are recorded in accordance with legislative and procedural requirements.
- To maintain user’s permissions on their workstations.
- To setup, configure, implement, maintain and upgrade company email accounts and accessories.
- To monitor activity on the network ensuring all IT regulations are being followed.
- To identify potential faults and remedy them before they escalate.
- To work with software developers to ensure all internal applications work as efficiently as possible with the internal hardware.
- To report to management hardware requirements and potential issues that may occur.
- To proactively strive to improve the hardware structure.
- To assist in IT project planning and delivery.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Previous experience working within a FCA regulated role preferred.
- Excellent Networking and infrastructure skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including questioning and listening at all times.
- Demonstrate confident and effective telephone skills.
- Excellent communicator across all levels
- Detailed understanding of the regulatory requirements and standards
- Previous experience of the following technologies and practices would be desirable:
- Windows Server 2008/2012 administration.
- Project Management.
- Microsoft Exchange server 2019 and 365 administration.
- VMWare/NetApp administration.
- Familiarity with Dreytek, Cisco and HP router technologies.
