We are currently seeking a Designer, Woven’s and Sweaters who can be nice, will seek inspiration from our roots, can commit to achieving results the right way and loves to think big to join us on our journey.
The Designer, Woven’s and Sweaters is a member of our Design team, responsible for creating seasonal custom collections keeping within Roots brand vision, seasonal direction and market needs. They need to be creative and think outside of the box contributing to the overall creative energy of the Design team.
The Designer, Woven’s and Sweaters for Roots will be responsible for and evaluated on the following:
- Initiating and planning seasonal development packages sales, and emerging trends, that maintain appeal to a wide-ranging customer
- Using trend intelligence and an understanding of the current and historical business to design a line that is relevant to the customer and reflects the brand identity
- Working collaboratively with the Graphics team to build seasonal graphic stories
- Initiating seasonal development packages, including initial spec, color, and BOMs or as directed
- Consistently researching the marketplace, including our competitors, for inspirations and influences in product, fabric, innovation, color and trims
- Present seasonal collections showcasing silhouette, fabric, print, pattern, and color range
- Ensuring quality of all products in collaboration with the Technical team
- Working cooperatively across buying, graphics & merchandising
- Competitive shopping and market trend research
- Minimum of 5-7 years experience in apparel design
- Extensive knowledge of apparel design, garment construction, applied graphic processes and fashion cycles
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator & Photoshop)
- Ability to design in their specific category keeping in mind the Roots design ascetic, pricing and seasonal themes.
- Ability to work cooperatively within and outside the design team
- Ability to share ideas and develop effective solutions to achieve the desired execution of product
- Ability to effectively handle constructive feedback from colleagues and senior management
- Superior organization skills
