Mid Weight Development Designer – POS

Overview
Our Leicester based clients require a Mid Weight Development Designer to join them on a full time and permanent basis. The successful candidate must have experience in the Retail POS sector and can demonstrate a good understanding of Retail environments, brand marketing and manufacturing. They will work with limited direction to create development proposals that are innovative, on brand, functional, sustainable, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
It is essential that the successful candidate is able to bring strong communication skills to the role which include experience of leading client meetings/presentations both in the UK and Europe.
Responsibilities
· Working directly with the client and retailers to better understand the brand and consumer behavior as it relates to the design request.
· Consulting with team members to establish and evaluate assignment requests and deliverables at initial briefing.
· Presenting design development proposals (Some elements of 2D Planogram Presentations with majority 3D engineering / Build Intent proposals) and working with client towards next step solutions.
· Working directly with the commercial teams at collaborative meetings to establish ways in which to innovate by considering Design for Sustainability, Design for Value, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Retail principles.
· Creating planogram or value-engineered presentations using a variety of techniques that include technical illustrations and 3d SolidWorks Modeling.
· Identifying appropriate and cost-effective materials and processes and developing solutions that are manufacturable and on brand
· Producing Design Intent drawings for the internal development teams
· Ensuring format of deliverables and quality of presentations are in line with Company standards
· Staying abreast of industry, market and material trends through publications, tradeshows, seminars, or conferences.
The Candidate
· Must be a competent user of Solidworks
· Hold a College or University degree/diploma in product design or similar
· Sound knowledge of Design Software, Internet Software, Word Processing Software, Presentation Software, Spreadsheet Software, and Database Software. Capable of preparing drawings, illustrations, renderings, presentations or rough sketches
· Good Judgment and problem solving skills using logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions
· Good Time Management Skills
· Able to read and interpret documents such as design briefs, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
· Excellent communication skills, written, verbally and in person
· Able to explain development designs in detail both internally and externally

Salary: Up to £38,000.00 per year
