Create (TX)
Full Time San Francisco, CA 150000 - 130000 USD ANNUAL Today
Job description

Create empowers businesses to build the software they need — fast.

Create's customers launch fully functional software products faster than anyone else, putting their ideas in the hands of users effectively overnight. We're betting on a new generation of software development, in which builders describe their product using natural language, and voilà! — that product exists, ready to be shipped.

Our generative AI-powered code generation system makes this magic possible, combining reusable components of other modern apps with a global community of human developers.

The result? Near-instant software production.

It’s not just magic. (It’s also viable.)

We’ve crossed 7 figures in recurring revenue, ran the company at a profit for our first two years, and are now growing rapidly. We’re building a world-class team for this next leg of our journey, working together out of our office in downtown San Francisco.

To take Create to the next level, we raised over $3M in an oversubscribed seed round late last year — from some of the best B2B software VCs in Silicon Valley, as well as several strategic angels — and we're investing it in talent and growth.

Our co-founders, Dhruv Amin and Marcus Lowe, are seasoned, repeat-entrepreneurs with software and AI backgrounds from Stanford and MIT, respectively.

We're looking for a designer with big ideas and the talent to implement them.

As the sole designer for Create, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity and user experience of our products. We're looking for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, highly technical environment, and has a proven track record of leading design efforts for a startup.

Create's founding designer will wear many hats.

Here’s a sneak peek at some projects you can expect to work on here:

  • User-centric design. Take ownership of the end-to-end user experience by understanding user needs, conducting user research, and translating insights into intuitive, visually appealing designs. Apply a deep understanding of human-computer interaction to create user interfaces that optimize usability and enhance the overall user experience.

  • Visual branding and identity. Develop and maintain a cohesive visual identity for our products, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints. Collaborate with the founding team to establish a brand strategy that resonates with our target audience and effectively communicates our core values.

  • Design systems and guidelines. Establish and maintain a comprehensive design system that incorporates best practices, UI patterns, and interaction guidelines. Create design templates, components, and libraries to streamline the design process, improve efficiency, and ensure consistency in our product development.

  • Prototyping and iteration. Rapidly prototype and iterate on designs to validate concepts and gather feedback from users and stakeholders. Utilize a data-driven approach to inform design decisions, leveraging user feedback, analytics, and industry trends to continually refine and improve our products.

  • Design evangelism. Educate and inspire the organization on the value of design by conducting workshops, sharing design best practices, and fostering a design-focused culture. Continuously stay updated on design trends, tools, and industry advancements to ensure our products remain at the forefront of innovation.

  • Design strategy and roadmapping. Partner with the founding team to define the long-term design vision and roadmap for our products. Translate business objectives into actionable design strategies, balancing user needs, technical constraints, and market trends to drive the evolution of our products and establish a strong design foundation for future growth.

  • Collaboration and leadership. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers and product managers, to drive the design process from conception to implementation. Act as a design advocate and thought leader, effectively communicating your design rationale and influencing stakeholders to prioritize user-centric design principles.

How we approach our work:

  • Customers first. Because we’re so critical to our customers’ success, you keep their needs center in all we do.

  • Think like an owner. If you weren’t joining Create, you’d probably start your own company.

  • Ship daily, with urgency and focus. You are a doer who focuses on what matters most, makes progress quickly, and iterates to the best outcome. You push things forward relentlessly.

  • Raise the craft and increase the leverage. You care about producing surprisingly great work and increasing the impact you can make through greater leverage.

  • Lead with curiosity. You constantly seek new technologies to help you achieve ambitious goals, and consume cutting-edge AI research in your free time — both to spawn new ideas and just for fun.

  • Work hard as a high-performance team. You have an intense work ethic and a drive to win, and believe that your work will lead to growth and excellence.

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • 3-8+ years of professional design experience, including at least 1 year operating as the sole designer for a highly technical company.

  • outstanding proficiency in Figma and other design tools

  • a representative portfolio that showcases your design thinking, problem-solving skills, and a user-centered design process

  • excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • a bias towards action, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment

  • BONUS: Familiarity with code generation, software development, or related technical fields is a plus

What's in it for you:

Unlimited PTO

Medical, dental, and vision insurance (100% covered for you; 80% for dependents)
