Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Designer (Womenswear – Soft Wovens), to join our Womenswear team here at our Head Office in South Shields. This role will be key to the design and development of seasonal ranges of women’s soft wovens, in line with critical path deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver product in line with the seasonal objectives for each category and target markets.
- Design soft woven ranges in line with the Barbour brand DNA, following the seasonal brief.
- Create products taking in to account key details, price points, target margin and intake dates.
- Have the ability to progress product lines and ranges by creating cohesive mood and colour boards in line with the Barbour brand DNA.
- Work to a seasonal critical path for product launch.
- Through regular market visits and range reviews with key representatives, demonstrate an understanding of the key markets in which to grow sales within Barbour.
- To create appropriate presentation & branding packs to communicate the range direction.
- Drive design development of key shapes, fabrics, and new colours with the design, product development and technical teams.
- Work closely with in house print designer when designing product featuring print and surface design.
- To create an accurate, detailed technical specification for each product suitable for global manufacture.
- To work closely with the technical team and manufacturing base, to create prototype and
- showroom samples to the required fit and specification, in line with the critical path deadlines.
- To investigate and propose potential new suppliers where necessary and work directly with manufactures to develop new seasonal concept prototypes.
- To assist the creation of accessory products by liaising with the accessories team.
- To provide accurate information on all products to the Marketing and E Commerce teams.
- Prepare all product lines and product presentation packs for sales Launch.
- Have the ability to present all ranges in detail to the sales team and distributors at sales launch.
- To manage special, make up packages for key accounts adhering to the business-critical path and process
- To design and develop collab collections in line with the Barbour internal critical path.
- To undertake any other reasonable activity, as may be required by senior management.
Skills and Experience:
- Have knowledge of product development from concept to consumer launch.
- Excellent knowledge of garment construction and fit across a range of soft wovens product.
- Excellent knowledge of a broad range of soft wovens product types.
- Established experience of designing, developing, and presenting soft wovens.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Barbour brand positioning, it’s heritage and competitor brands.
- Experience in creating clothing for multiple global markets.
- Excellent working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop packages
