Are you a Design Lead with experience shepherding the entire creative process and leading a team of designers?

We’re hiring for a Design Lead to be the guardian of PinkNews’ visual identity and to be a leader and creative mentor.

PinkNews is the largest LGBTQ+ media publisher in the world. Our mission is to inform, inspire change and empower people to be themselves, we do so by reaching over 150 million unique users per month across our website, app and social platforms.

You will report to the Head of Brand. At PinkNews, the Brand team is responsible for crafting a unifying voice for PinkNews, effectively positioning the brand in the minds of key stakeholders both internally and externally - the public, advertisers, partners, media and talent. It incorporates Design, Events, Brand Marketing, Strategic Partnerships, and Data & Insights.

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 DOE

Location: Hybrid working - London office 2 days per week

What you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Be the guardian of PinkNews’s visual brand identity, ensuring it is unified and consistent across all projects and platforms.
  • Authoritative design and process leadership across the core responsibilities of the Design team: digital content, video, commercial, decks, UX/UI, events collateral.
  • Visual creative direction of the PinkNews brand, keeping it consistent and unified.
  • Be a leader and creative mentor — uphold a strong design team culture; growing, motivating, training and upskilling the team.
  • Develop guidelines and training as necessary to support the content teams in maintaining quality standards and on-brand creative for their own design work.
  • Work with the Brand and Partnerships teams, to oversee design of bespoke commercial campaign assets incorporating social, video, digital, print.
  • Line-manage and develop the Design team, currently three designers.
  • Effectively manage the team budget.
  • Oversee production of corporate assets eg deck templates, pitching materials for advertising campaigns, one pager templates, events collateral.
  • UX/UI work with the Product team.

Skills you’ll need:

  • Experience conceptualising, presenting and pitching commercial campaign work.
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally across departments and externally with clients and agencies.
  • Significant experience shepherding the entire creative process and guiding a team of Designers
  • Experience with people management.
  • The ability to work to face-paced deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience developing creative solutions and leading and supporting the commercial pitch process.
  • Excellent graphic design skills.
  • Experience with Adobe CC — Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Dreamweaver.
  • Experience with GSuite including Slides.
  • Experience with Figma (UX/UI Design Knowledge).

Any previous experience working in an agency environment is highly desirable.
